    Next Gen 2D Graphics

I think the closest we're going to get is Deadlight.

    Ninja Gaiden 3

"Realistic" and "Ninja Gaiden" can never go together. The game is just about fun, combo-based combat mechanics, to which dismemberment added a lot. Their whole "seen before" argument when it comes to dismemberment is inane. Why not go the extra mile and ditch the whole game? They want to make...

Image Quality and Framebuffer Speculations for WIP/alpha/beta/E3 games *Read the first post*

Those are screenshots taken from the latest gameplay video released by 343i. They're heavily compressed, as per YouTube standards.

    Halo: Reach

Gears 2 has even more slowdown, especially when there are quite a few explosions on screen; it is very noticeable in the section where you first get to use the mortar. It's not game breaking, but that is enough to see why some developers would use a different approach.

Why no exit buttons in retail games compared to demo games

Three, to be precise: Guide+Y(+UP)+A. You can do it in half a second, much faster than having to return to the main screen and then press the exit button and the confirmation button. It would be nice to have the option to exit the game via its menu, though, given that many people might not even...

    Halo: Reach

PGR3 & 4, Crackdown and the Mistwalker games are all second-party. The same goes for Too Human, GoW and GoW2. Fable 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Shadowrun, Forza 2 & 3 and the Rare games are just about the entire production from the stable of first-party MS studios. It has been MS's policy during this...

    Halo: Reach

I expect the game to look mostly the same, save for the humungous amounts of AA. The animations and models look all very much improved. Certainly a step in the right direction.

Is DirectX throttling Xbox 360 performance?

That's right. Xbox games are rendered at 480p 4x MSAA.

    [360] Forza Motorsport 3

Yes, the FM3 3-screen mode was already demonstrated at E3.

Halo 3 engine upgrade analysis (for ODST)

I'm afraid I don't, because that might not have been officially confirmed after all. I guess I've read about the possibility of a new engine so many times that I ended up believing that it had been announced somewhere. :-| Sorry about that.

Halo 3 engine upgrade analysis (for ODST)

Apparently, Bungie still had to make a couple of Halo games as part of their contractual obligations with Microsoft when they decided to become independent. It seems reasonable that they want to finish both as soon as possible. Still, there are quite a few people at Bungie who still love...

Molyneux promoted to creative director of MS games

Unfortunately, I can't see that happening, not any time soon, given that EA owns the IP. On the whole Molyneux issue, I'd say that the main problems I see with him is his propensity towards running his mouth every now and then. The level of expectations every game of his gets is ridiculously...

    [360] Forza Motorsport 3

I haven't read anything like that. Obviously, that would be silly, since everybody expect GT5 have more cars and tracks. Honestly, the whole talk about a game being the definitive racer is silly. Forza 3 and GT5 will end up being quite different games. I expect the former to be the more...

Halo 3 engine upgrade analysis (for ODST)

I'm sure it's longer than that if you count pre-production. They already had a teaser ready for last year's E3, so at least they must have had quite a few ideas about where they wanted to go with the game. You also have to remember that they're reusing the Halo 3 engine as well as many assets...
