    AMD Execution Thread [2023]

If 'high-end' RDNA4 has been pulled I would imagine it's primarily down to a reprioritisation of finite engineering resources into CDNA and future iterations given AMD's current market share in the consumer GPU space versus the significant investment and crazy demand/hype for AI from corporates...

Are Navi 32 and Navi 33 expected to be announced at CES this week with launch presumably later in calendar Q1?

Intel ARC GPUs, Xe Architecture for dGPUs [2022-]

Cyan, thanks for the Darktide updates. Game stability still seems quite up and down. I didn't have many issues with the beta but since the launch have had a few sessions where I'm getting frequent DCs (5+ times per map) whereas other times it's stable for hours. It's great when it works...

Intel ARC GPUs, Xe Architecture for dGPUs [2022-]

Thanks for the video. Had a look at a few others on that channel and as you say the A770 does hold it's own at 1440p with RT enabled, which hopefully augurs well for future iterations of the architecture. Yeah, it's a pity there isn't a single-player campaign in Darktide alongside the coop...

Intel ARC GPUs, Xe Architecture for dGPUs [2022-]

Cyan, thanks very much for sharing your experiences with the card in this thread. Good stuff! Despite some of the issues with the translation wrapper and performance expectations -- as well as manufacturing cost concerns some have mentioned -- as an overall proposition in the price bracket...

AMD: Southern Islands (7*** series) Speculation/ Rumour Thread

I built a new PC for my young nephews a few months ago and to keep costs down amidst the craziness of the consumer GPU market over the past 18 months I installed a Radeon R280 (refreshed 7950) I bought in 2014. For 1080p gaming it handles everything they want to play off Steam. Temperatures...

Wing Commander Saga Launching 22 March, 2012

There's a known issue with normal maps and some ATI cards, although this can apparently be resolved by reverting to an older driver.

Wing Commander Saga Launching 22 March, 2012

Yeah, I think they were always keen to integrate the detailed cockpits that the original series (bar WC4) was known for and they modelled a number of them for the cinematics, like this Longbow cockpit. I'm guessing there's an engine limitation that's still holding them back on the cockpit...

Wing Commander Saga Launching 22 March, 2012

"Check your six, pilot! Kilrathi incoming!" I know there's still a few Wing Commander fans on the Beyond3D boards! Some of you may recall the Wing Commander Saga Prologue that was released a few years ago. Well, the team of fans behind it have been quietly beavering away on improving...

    Suggestions for 24" widescreen LCD?

Aah, good catch. Dell's early 20" models and their 30" models all use S-IPS panel according to this Panel Database, while all their high-end 24" models have either used (Samsung) PVA or S-PVA. The HP LP2475w is H-IPS though, while the Hazro Z24W/Z24Wi and NEC LCD2490WUXi use S-IPS panels.

    Suggestions for 24" widescreen LCD?

The 2408WFP has noted input lag issues though, which put me off an otherwise tempting upgrade. Connectivity and styling-wise it's appealing along with all the other benefits of a H/S-IPS panel, but the lag could potentially be a bugbear if you do some gaming and start to notice the effect. I...
