Thanks for the impressions. After Mario Kart DS was the best Mario Kart title to date, I had high hopes for MKwii... It seems that it only delivered on a few fronts.

I have yet to play Crysis, COD4, Assassin's Creed, or Mass Effect... but... So far, Super Mario Galaxy. It would be head-and-shoulders above everything else if Metroid Prime 3 and BioShock weren't so good. Oh, and The Orange Box certainly deserves a mention. PC GOTY, surely.

I'm now about 70 stars in. There are times where the level design does feel a little copy-n-paste (for example, Gold Leaf Galaxy is like an altered mirror version of Honeycomb Galaxy; one too many spherical puzzles) but even those levels are different from each other and offer plenty of fun...

In a game of 120 stars and loads of variety, 3 stars isn't enough for a review. People are way too quick to overrate and underrate anything. Just play, have fun, and then review it in your mind. That's what professional journalists do. Well, no, they rush through a game in order to finish...

Around 45 stars in, I'm trying to think of a game as fun as this. Struggling.

I agree on Perfect Dark. It was a good game, just not nearly GoldenEye good. Except for the multiplayer which was nicely evolved.

Wii hasn't had a blockbuster this year, until MP3. Smash Bros is going to do some devious things to Sony's ratio.

MSX, eh? Time for the US debut of the real Metal Gear 2.

Wii should get RE5. It could handle it, with RE4-level graphics. Just make the game to spec on the X360/PS3, then downgrade everything a notch...

It's either SMB or SM64. I voted SMB on the basis that... I mean, Christ, it's SMB. It was a good year or two ahead of anything else at that time, in terms of raw size and playability. On the NES, on the PC, everywhere.

Chances are that it won't look evenly remotely "PS2-like." Up the texture res, geometric complexity, and special effect detail... and you have "next-gen." Scalable engines... gotta love 'em!
