I think by now that it's clear that RDNA2 uses the ray tracing method described by that AMD patent, wher the intersction engine is in the tmu. If you the calculation for the case of XSX, 208tmus X 1.825Ghz = 379.6G intersections per second, which matches the figure given by Microsoft, in the...
I dunno. The way the tweet of Matt Hargett is worded, it seems like he's saying "Will the inclusion of RDNA2 mean, in terms of performance, x, y, and z" not "We both have RDNA2, but what is the performance of x, y and z compare to each other".
Now that RDNA has been officially announced by AMD, people are saying PS5 gpu is based on RDNA 2. I have some reason to doubt that. This is a tweet by ex Pricipal Software Engineer for PS5:
AMD's RDNA2 GPU architecture confirmed. Will it mean multi-bounce ray tracing in native 4K at 60fps? with...
That's why I wish the site owners would ask their sources. Obviously what they find will be rumors. We won't know for sure, until Microsoft discloses the information.
What no website has answered is what kind of ray tracing performance can we expect from RDNA2 gpus. In other words, how many giga rays per seconds. They need to start digging.
If you watch the Project Scarlett reveal trailett trailer you will notice that:
1. When the NVMe module is shown, the module is standing on its end, as though it were being supported by something. If you look at the top of the module, you can see what looks like two screw heads. Eventually the...
NOTE: I MADE SOME IMPORTANT CHANGES.
I used the youtube video, in full screen mode.
I had difficulty measuring because of the blurriness of some of the ends. For the gddr6, I chose the one closest to the bottom left corner of the chip, IN TERM OF DISTANCE FROM THE CAMERA
for the...
I tried my hand at trying to estimate the size of Project Scarlett's SoC. First, I had to find a ruler to measure the dimensions of the SoC and GDDR6 module in the reveal trailr . Then, I had to discover the actual dimensions of the gddr6 module. The short side is facing the SoC.
350mm^2, my...

Remember that Sony job listing, calling PS5 the "world's fastest console"? Well, it looks they quietly removed the sentence that said that...
