I'm sure this question has been asked and forgive my naivete and ignorance. In a system with an APU and a discrete graphics card the integrated graphics are typically deactivated and are idle, wasted computational resources. Can these IGP/compute units not be put to work on, say, gpu accelerated...
The BOM for the Rift is significantly lower than the HMZ t3, thats why the Rift is $300 and the HMZ is over $1000. The Rift uses a single cheap display and inexpensive fisheye-ish lenses and the HMZ uses 2 OLED microdisplays and 2 complicated optics blocks.
And the thing that the Rift has...
It's my opinion that the next big thing in PC gaming will be VR/Rift. Alot of the extra power of the pc will be soaked up by having to render twice the graphics (stereoscopy) twice as fast (<= 60fps for non-nausea inducing VR.)
That's not John's fault. He modified the HMD but he didn't design or build it, it is a prototype cobbled together from basically off the shelf parts.
I think it's a given that he'll work this tech into Rage at some point, iirc he has even mentioned this in previous interviews.
I wish...

And apparently Nvidia's partners are getting a little antsy.

I know I'm not everybody but I'm also not nobody and I have cash in hand and I'm ready to upgrade now. My current graphics card (HD5850) is faulty and I randomly get BSOD when running video files so it's not just upgrade fever..I kind of need a new card now. I was displeased with my AMD card so...
Precisely. You can't win the game if you don't play. By saying/showing absolutely nothing while their competitor has announced and released a product to generally positive reviews they are simply giving up money. By remaining utterly silent they are giving the impression that something is...
Im worried that there is something terribly wrong with Kepler because AMD 7000 is practically out and we havent heard a peep from NV. CES was the ideal venue to unveil it, what other event could it show up at? Is there anything before E3? And E3 2012 is (likely) going to be an orgy of new...
I think your really asking if any game companies are cooperatives, right? Non-profit implies something completely different.
As far as I can tell the closest thing to a cooperative in the game dev community would probably be Valve Software. Valve is largely horizontally operated with very...
I concur. A 4 inch screen at 960x640 is "higher def", in relative terms, than a 50 inch screen at 1280x720. High Definition is a measure of pixel density.
I wish they were making a new Commodore 1084s to go with it. *drool
I was so heartbroken when my 1084s finally died.
You haven't really experienced 8bit, 16bit, and 32bit videogames until you have experienced them in 15khz RGB.
I need a new speaker system for my pc and I don't have the room for a 5.1 system. Reading various reviews has only served to make me MORE muddled and confused on the issue of which 2.1 system to get. Balanced, rich audio is most important to me, I generally dont crank the volume up to obscene...
These sort of woulda coulda shoulda "what if" scenarios are a lot of fun though I think a lot of users are irritated when discussions of "dead" consoles are sparked.
Other than piracy/security issues I don't think there is anything I would change about the Dreamcast. It was amazingly well...
I think this was actually discovered quite by accident when people experimenting with the Dolphin Wii and Gamecube emulator discovered how incredibly well and glitch free the games ran in stereo while using Nvidia 3D stereo glasses. (Even most PC games exhibit numerous glitches when running 3D...
"Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience "Alan Wake" was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both...
