I just found this funny
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/202...-phones-after-launch-to-improve-battery-life/
In a whole raft of common Apps eg google chrome, facebook, instagram, messaging etc (i.e. prolly 99% of what ppl do on their phones) for months performance was running at ~25% of what it was capable of, yet noone noticed
Ever since my nexus 4 from nearly a decade ago, I get a new phone, I dont notice any speed difference. Yet the manufacturers always tout the greatly improve CPU/GPU (*) To me its of zero importance (and apparently to nearly everyone else)
Of course on desktop I would notice a 75% drop in CPU.
Its siilar to a couple of months ago on my PC I replaced my Lan internet cable out the back, with wifi (one less cable on the floor was worth the price of missing something that can not be noticed unless you benchmark it) or years ago I got the offer to upgrade my internet from 10mb/s to 100mb/s at the same cost (though I refused as 1 day downtime, perhaps more == not worth it)
(*)I dont game on the mobile, if I did then I expect it would be somewhat important (the most popular mobile games dont seem to be particular CPU/GPU heavy)
