Nintendo has entered into an agreement to acquire 100 percent of the outstanding shares of the Vancouver, Canada-based Next Level Games to make it a wholly owned subsidiary, the company announced. The acquisition is expected to close on March 1.

Next Level Games has developed a number of a Nintendo titles in the past, including Super Mario Strikers for GameCube, Mario Strikers Charged and Punch-Out!! for Wii, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and Metroid Prime: Federation Force for 3DS, and Luigi’s Mansion 3 for Switch.

great purchase for nintendo.

They will need to ramp up their offerings for switch 2. They have a few franchises that carry the systems like mario kart , zelda and mario but every once in awhile something else hits really big like animal crossing. But they could really use a solid 3 or 4 first party games a year

with how dry is Switch 1st party games lately... they really need to have more studios to have better pacing between releases...

or this was a deliberate move to have lots of launch title for switch 2?

They should pick up Camelot Games, for their sports franchises. Then bring them up to AAA first-party level.
So a Mario Golf with a fully fleshed out Mario Galaxy course (planet-hopping and gravity) , Peach's Castle course, Mario Sunshine, Rainbow Road, Luigi's Mansion, Tiny-Huge-World (where you see it from a tiny perspective, then from a miniature golf perspective) , maybe a Wind Waker level, etc..
I always thought Golf and Baseball had alot more potential, if they put in the effort.
As they are, they always seemed more like IP novelty games, than fully realized franchises.
