Star Citizen, Roberts Space Industries - Chris Roberts' life support and retirement fund [2012-]

CIG is partnering with Turbulent (they purchased a minority stake last year... so i guess its good to get crowd funded) which will be dedicated to new features , locations and entire star systems.

Its great to see them adding a dev to create real content and not just more ships.

They have now raised $323m. They are in the middle of their big sale event where almost all ships are paraded around again you can buy capital class ships for just $2500. Its also a free fly week through the 2nd.

I dont really like the game itself, but the graphics are beyond everything else still. But the best thing about this whole project is the emotions it creates on the internets and forums due to the politics behind it. Almost more fun then seeing console comparison video comments :p

First version of volumetric gas cloud tech is in 3.12 and such environments make the mining of ores visually much more varied and beautiful and thus mining is more fun. Game mechanics in the gas clouds such as interference from radar, space weather, possible hazards for space ships, people in EVA will come later.

Those are some very nice looking clouds and yes, game mechanics side should be quite interesting.

A Star Wars/Star Trek like shortfilm

A few unrealistic mechanics like that you can freeze to death quickly in most spacesuits but it will be benefitial for the gameplay.

Looks like the mesh shader demo that nvidia had awhile ago. Looks very dramatic.

There were a lot more astreroids. Let's see if they will use mesh shaders. Unlike VRS there is no fallback.

Let's see if they still show the new roadmap this year. Vulkan is mandatory for various reasons. The game is too limited by the CPU and other things such as Mesh shaders, variable-rate shading and raytracing would be possible.

EDIT:

Really liking his videos and I cannot wait to fight the Idris capital ship.

They also had first decent video about sq42 level creation and such a while back.
It was quite nice, hopefully we will hear more soon.

One day there will be a civilisation like ours, but it lives entirely in a simulated universe. At one point they might discover that their universe started as a kickstarter for a video game... that video game was Star Citizen :p

"Feeling a bit down today"

"Why's that?"

"It's a year today since Bob left us"

"Has it really been a year? I miss him too"

"Yeah. Striking a T-pose and falling through the planet. What a terrible way to go"

"Number one killer amongst men ages 35-50 apparently"
