Stand against the end of the world in Tribes of Midgard

Gather your tribe and face mythical foes in this survival action-RPG launching on PS5 next year.

Explore the beautiful wilds, encounter mythical beasts, and face mighty Jötunn (Giants) to gain the strength you need to protect the Seed of Yggdrasil. Hunt animals, harvest resources, and fight all manner of enemies to gather what you need to craft weapons, armor, potions, and your village’s defenses.

Gather your tribe and stand against Ragnarök in Tribes of Midgard! Coming to PlayStation 5 and Steam in 2021, this co-op survival action-RPG pits you against the end of the world. Prove yourself as a lone Viking or form a tribe of up to 10 players. The odds are against you, but Valhalla can wait!

Plan ahead, because when night falls, Helthings emerge and attack the Seed. And with each passing day, they’ll grow stronger as Ragnarök—the end of the world—approaches.

No matter how you play, your tribe has a home for you. So gather all you explorers, builders, Giant slayers, and defenders of the Seed, because Ragnarök awaits!

That unboxing video now has now 7.6M views. In general non apple videos from him seem to have 1.5-2.5m views. Xbox impressions video from 1month ago has 2.1M views. Unboxing video is still top 3 trending video on my area. It might hit 10M views. His ps5 impressions video has 5.6M views.

The console impression videos seem to align with marketshare occupied by previous gen consoles. Unboxing is going through the roof. I guess sony trickle marketing did create curiosity and demand for content. Good for sony on managing their marketing well.

I also strongly believe that, as absolutely bloody frustrating as it has been, Sony’s strategy of basically ignoring everyone, and then dropping surprise news here and there, has the effect of “breaking the internet” every time, as the pent up demand for info then explodes into millions and millions of views/hits/clicks.

Which, paradoxically, may actually mean that these views may be inflated and may not represent the real demand for the product. Or they’ll sell a billion of these things, who knows!

We won’t know until a few months and years from not, really.

"PS4 games redeemed from the PlayStation Plus Collection and played on the PS5 console will see benefits such as increased loading speed and improved or more stable framerates with PS5’s Game Boost****."

So the games in the collection will run in boost mode and not pro or base mode ?

@Xbat Here's the footnotes for the PSPlus Collection blog entry. I was hoping it would provide further details about "Game Boost" but it only disclaimers BC with majority of PS4 titles, then links off to the BC page we've already seen @ https://support.playstation.com/s/article/backward-compatibility?language=en_US

PSPlus Collection Footnotes said:
*Number and availability of PlayStation Plus Collection titles may vary by country. The PlayStation Plus Collection is not available in China.

**PS5 console only; PlayStation Plus benefit not applicable for Bugsnax on PS4.

***Bugsnax (PS5) available to play in U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea starting November 12, and available on November 19, when PS5 launches throughout the rest of the world. Country availability may vary.

****PS5 console is backwards compatible with a majority of PS4 games. See
here for more details.

So the PS5 GPU is basically half of that in CU count but similar clocks?

From reading sources, we should be using Game clocks and not peak boost clocks.

So from a TF standpoint, and since we are using the same architecture to compare,

This is where stuff stand:

Relative performances and stats

neither PS5 or Series seem based on anything in the 6000 series lineup Just looking at specs here.
They pulled over the CUs and some feature sets, but the GPUs on both model closer to RDNA 1 I suppose for backwards compatibility. Perhaps not, I'm not entirely sure.

Minus the Infinity Cache.
This isn't certain yet.

In fact, Anandtech seems to point out that Infinity Cache is instrumental in reducing the GPU's power consumption, which in turn is a great part of what allows Navi 21 to clock as high as it does.
The PS5's GPU clocks could be an indicator that it is carrying a similar implementation of GPU LLC.

AMD also claimed their GPU LLC is "high density", meaning it's perhaps consuming less die area per capacity than the Zen's L3.

It doesn't seem particularly strong anchor point. XSX matches the 6800 game clocks right on spec as well as nearing the number of CUs.
But architecturally looks very different as does PS5.

PS5 memory interface is 256 bits just like all RX 6000 series.

These are things that are up for any sort of customization as required.
I'm looking at things like shader engines and arrays CU counts etc. Unless they are also releasing another GPU that is 1/2 the size of the 6800XT, then I can follow along.
