I thought that was a no go on console. "inconsistent experience".
I had already posted this but MS made a point of saying multiple times in the Digital Foundry article that their clocks speeds were locked. I just found that odd and it made me wonder if they got wind that Sony will be using boost clocks. Why else would they make such a point of emphasis about locked clock speeds? In all the console reveals I've witnessed I don't remember locked clock speeds ever being mentioned and if they were they surely were not a point of emphases in any way. I just found it strange and it stuck out to me.

I think they said that to emphasize how good this was. It was just a way to say a positive thing. Also because there is a boost clock on CPU.

If PS5 is 36 CUs, 9.2 TF, will there be much of a price saving on the BOM versus XBSX?

IMO, no.

That's why NOT going for power is so stupid, generally, of course you have to cut it off somewhere...

The SSD and all that costs will probably dwarf a few mm on the SOC, especially as time wears on.

When you save a few bucks on the SOC, it costs you billions. Your console is weaker so you end up having to slash prices on it to keep up. See, Xbox One...

Note: Does not apply to Nintendo.

If that's the case then it's bye bye Playstation, period. Probably not worth it staying up to 3am for this seeing all this.
Don't worry about it. It could simply mean they won't announce Tflops and the warriors will be sad they still have no ammo for their war.

Did they omit cell somehow or creatively calculate it?

My recollection from discussions on here was at a primitive flop count cell was a relative monster. Rsx might have been a bit low but cell more than made up in the list wars.

Somewhere they also showed the TF graph but I cant find it

But all the insiders said.....

Most of the credible insider told console Matt(mod at era) and Jason Schreier are not far from each other. The only one who told PS5 is above it is Klee and Andrew Reiner from Gameinformer.

After maybe the target spec was above but the final console is behind. Don't forget it was target spec and Matt and Jason were saying this is not final things change and they didn't want to tell which console will be more powerful.

This would not be the first time Sony did not reach target spec like with PS3 GPU for example downgrade from 550 mhz target to 500 mhz.

After the reveal it'll be really interesting to do a post-mortem on the "insider" phenomenon and who actually was and wasn't credible and compare it to how much credibility they were assigned.
