Baseless Next Generation Rumors with no Technical Merits [post E3 2019, pre GDC 2020] [XBSX, PS5]

Cell was hampered by making up for RSX shortcomings. Cell is still praised to this day https://www.tweaktown.com/news/6916...ll-cpu-far-stronger-new-intel-cpus/index.html

Cell is faster then even a i9 9900k in certain tasks. In 99% of the other times a new intel will beat the Cell found in PS3. The cell was a flop for a reason. A quad core from it's time (2006) was a much better CPU for gaming already back then. Let alone 1000 dollar Intel chips of today.
The Cell was basically a CPU with 'GPU cores', abit like the emotion engine perhaps, so directly comparing it to a CPU is also abit wrong, it was quite fast for folding@home, but a X1900 was multiple times faster then that.

From a few weeks before... Passed this and wrote it off because it was a bit out there.

Err

  1. Anaconda targets were boosted from 10TF to 12TF in late 2018. Third party developers only have the outdated specs as of the time this Pastebin was written.

  2. For comparison, Oberon devkits are 10.24 TF at the time of this writing.
So the leak is from first party Microsoft that somehow has detailed PS5 devkit knowledge?

Why do you think this leak is from first party?

If we start believing in Pastebin leaks now, then PS5 has been rumored to be >12TF for quite some time. In other words, it’s all bullshit at the moment.

If Jason’s sources are to be believed, that would imply both Sony and Microsoft are pushing the envelope in regards to pricing next gen. 2080 performance? That’s an 11 teraflop card listed for $700 give or take. Of course it isn’t a like-for-like comparison regarding console SoC pricing vs full-fledged pc parts but one can guesstimate either AMD is being extremely generous(highly doubtful), both corporations are doing a loss leader approach(doubtful), or these consoles will be priced higher than current gen(definitely believable).

The leak says third party Devs only have outdated specs, only place a leak with the new specs can therefore come from is first party?

The leak then has PS5 specs

I don't think thoes two possibilities are in any way likely, and anyone who would have that info on their competitor would be senior enough to keep their mouth well shut.

My distrust of Patebin went from the usual high levels to critical alert instantly.

A stuck clock is correct twice a day so no doubt something from paste bin will be held up as truth but I remain skeptical on all posts so far.

.

Or AMD. Or some middleware provider working with both sets of the latest hardware.
