Can random unknowns on Pastebin be trusted as reliable sources for leaks? *spawn

I'm not saying random unknowns can be trusted, hell - I'm holding a tonne of salt here. All I was saying was that last gen rumours also started with a random pastebin post!

Are you just ignoring how the Sony PS4 info was total BS?
No, clearly he knew nothing about the PS4 other than the codename...doesn't mean it didn't start the rumours.

8 core i7 to a 8 core jaguar mobile cpu, yeah pretty close.
Here's the quote;
"The X-Box 3 is going to have an 8-core 64-bit processor (assumedly an i7 or similar design) rated at 1.2 Teraflops"
Clearly he's assumed incorrectly, he's even put in brackets that it's something he's assuming! And whilst he's put 'rated at 1.2TF' - clearly that was the machine, not the CPU. He obviously had some info, but was not an expert...he was a 'jobless student' for crying out loud!

But all the technical information was total BS.
Not really, he was right about the CPU being 8-core 64 bit, bluray, 500GB HDD, 8GB flash, the 24/7 connectivity and cloud-based connectivity. All this way before any announcement.

I was talking on the Sony side.

Oh right, well obviously (in restrospect)...I thought you were questioning the rest.

The question is, were people fed lies by Sony? I remember the whole lead-up being about the PS4 being under-powered (largely because my mate at work constantly ribbed me about it), and then bam - the tables were reversed and the whole RAM (doubling) and price were just icing with a cherry on top.

At that point MS must have been completely on the canvas.

Personally I feel Arkham nights post history is such that I wouldn't put too much faith on the stuff he brings here... His spec sheet seems to be recycled elements of often talked about specs (on the high end of the range)...with some random BS thrown in, like the US launch pricing from random EU developer at this far from launch point in time. Throw in the obligatory references to CGI-bringing visuals and in general juvenile output in many of his posts. Not much to see here imo.

Yes, much like the 'Sony not doing E3' guy - nothing new, just pulling a lot of strings together.

I (personally) would be surprised if it's 14TF.

On the whole, the conspiracy about controlled leaks is.. unlikely and incorrect. If there are real leaks, there are people breaking NDAs and risking their jobs to leak it if they are caught. The information can come out of a variety of channels like contractors, developers, retailers etc and usually that information with partners is limited. Leakers need to be careful about canary traps, where they tell each group something a little bit different from the others. This enables the companies to locate the general group of their leaker and go from there. a prominent star wars film ends in such a way.

That being said, most of these tech blogs are supposed to go through a variety of their sources to corroborate the information they want to release. They should be doing their best to ensure that their sources stay protected otherwise they lose them and that's the end for that channel. So when you see leaks from Thurott and say Jez on windows central, they have similar news at the same time and they are way too closely tied. You can already think ahead and feel like some partner conference happened and they had access to the same information. But the other stuff thurott talked about, that stuff no one else had, and that stuff is likely someone breaking their NDA and since no one else is reporting the same thing, their jobs could be on the line.

None of these leaks have to be real or legit, it is just a transfer of information through news outlets and there is a vetting process there done by the sites to ensure that what they release protects their sources. But they don't even know what they are releasing is entirely accurate.

Onto the Paste Bin; anyone can write that shit. There was no vetting. It's just whatever they want to post.

Does it? It looks like only thing that thing has right is the codenames.

Did you not see my list? Everything about Xbox One was correct bar the RAM and wrongly assuming an i7 CPU. Other that that it's really close for 2 years ahead of launch. The 1.2TF was obviously a misunderstanding and was meant that the machine was 1.2TF, not the CPU (which is obvious).

Yeah, other than confusing the GPU flops for the CPU flops it was pretty accurate there.

Are you just ignoring how the Sony PS4 info was total bullshit?

Well, at this time the quad core CPU was probably correct as it predates the switch the Jaguar from Steamroller, but they appear to have a strong bias against the Sony information being related. I'm guessing they were hearing second hand distress about the RAM situation.

This student guessing specs for PS4 doesnt mean this pastebin from 2018 for the PS5 is any reliable. It is one of many spec/design 'leaks' for PS5. Those specs can be an indication, but if thats the case anyone's spec here or somewhere else can be.

New Ps5 Rumors from Pastebin , no proof of anything but give us of nice Inspiration to dream:

Hello Guys on the internet. There are many rumors about the next Playstation and Xbox most of them are complete rubbish and pure fiction. Because the Sources are not credible and cannot be , the Hardware is not ready but in development. Working as an IT specialist in the Gaming Industry with some first Hand Informations i try to bring light into all these rubbish rumors. Playstation 5 Hardware will be complete manufactured at 7 nm FinFet Process and not at 10,12 or 14 nm. It is not a classic APU/SOC Design like what you have seen in previous Consoles , it has a discrete GPU , a MCM with Chiplets connected via Interposer and I/O Bridge. AMD has worked many Years on this new Architecture and Sony give some Input for custom Features for their new Console. Cpu clocked at 3 Ghz with 256 Bit Functions and Math Operations. It is not a Monster it has still 8 Cores but more powerful and efficient than those underpowered Jaguar Cores in the actual Consoles. Its ZEN 2 based Design with some Ps5 only Features and lots of Cpu Cache using as a Scratchpad if you want. GPU is clocked at 1,5 Ghz Navi Design , around 13,8 Tflops calculation Power , with custom Features and more powerful/efficient per Watt as the powerhungry Vega Design. It has has AI and Raytraycing extensions not in that way like Nvidias RTX 2080 Gpus but more useable in real World gaming Situations . Tiling , deffered Rendering and Colorcompression are supported via Hardware. Our Programmers like it alot. GPU Cache is bigger and faster as in the Ps4/Pro. Its really an interesting Design with Future proof Feature and 4K gaming . Sony and Amd worked hard to develop Drivers , Librarys and as a Gaming Company we gave input back to them to make things better , finding Bugs etc.. There are also Rumors about the Memorytype a long ago. Ps5 still have GDDR6 Memory 24 Gbyte with around 700 Gbyte/s Busspeed, really fast plus 8 Gbyte slower Memory for OS Functions and Background Tasks. Overall Memorysize is 32 Gbyte. Games running on a multilayered Bluray Disc with 100 Gbyte Size. HD Type and Size actual not final , but we see SSD drives in the retail Unit. Sony set the Pricepoint for the Ps5 at 499 Dollars. It would be interesting the cost of Memory in 2020. Maybe we se some changes for the Memorysize and Clockspeed in the final Console . Ps5 supported also PsVR2 and Online Gamestreaming .

Now that's a bold-wall-o-text...

"more powerful/efficient per Watt as the powerhungry Vega Design."
And there goes any possible credibility it might have ever had. Vega wasn't especially powerhungry design, only Vega 10 was configured as such.

edit: for sake of clarification, person with supposed knowledge of these things should know that

Vega is power hungry at 1.5GHz, no matter which version at least with the 14nm chips, and the 7nm Vega 20 is power hungry at providing 13.8 TFLOPs. I don't think that statement is an absolute reason to consider everything fake.

There's the 1.5GHz 13.8 TFLOPs which is an odd combination. Assuming Navi uses the usual MADD ALUs and 64 of those per CU, that would be 72 CUs. Or 72 shader processors per CU.

"AI extensions" could be the just the same quad rate int8 as Vega 20, but RT hardware "unlike the RTX2080" seems odd.

What really gets me though is the mention of an interposer for a MCM that then uses GDDR6. CPU+GPU+IO seems feasible considering AMD's latest implementations, but not the interposer part.

Nothing in this rumor is that unbelievable. My guess is that what ever the next xbox/ps5 is, the specs have already been guessed here or else where. There's only some many permutations of an AMD design possible
.

Wouldn't a discrete gpu make backwards compatibility near impossible and give the recent BC patent registered by Sony I find this bold wall of text a bit hard to believe.
Sure hope it's on the money tho, who am I kidding!

This is obviously fake
- A spec leakers aren't going to know about the pricepoint (explaining why is going to take a paragraph not gonna bother)

- 13.8 TFLOPS is unfortunately too high.
- The DRAM quantity is too large to be realistic 32GB (24GDDR6 + 8GB DDR3/4)
- ~700GB/s Memory bandwidth is too high to be realistic even with GDDR6
- Larger CPU and GPU caches than PS4 & PRO is obvious as Moore's law and the march of technology progresses. Also we know that Ryzen has more cache than Jaguar (2x 2MB L2) so a customised Ryzen obviously will as well.

- 256bit extensions? You don't say..... 256 bit extensions have existed in AMD and Intel CPUs for yeeeaaars

- PS5 has color compression? Obviously..... PS4 PRO had lossless Delta color compression and AMD has had it since the R9 285 (2014)

- PS5 has hardware support for tiled resources? AMD has had hardware support for its own version of tiled resources call Partially Resident Textures (PRT) since the Southern island architecture (Dec 2011 7970 launch date) (the same arch X1 and PS4 used) and PS4 has hardware support for PRT.

He suspects that PS5 will have an SSD? Is he really an "IT specialist"? Even though his entire post is bunk even if we where to run with his fake $500 pricepoint makes it more likely PS5 won't have an SSD (look how much of the Bill of Materials would have to go into the CPU/GPU/RAM in his build), even with the projections that SSD prices will continue to fall over the next year or 2 the size and the $/gig will still make it unlikely to be in a $500 console with those other specs. Any IT specialist worth their salt would say its a fair bit more likely console it would still have spinning platters. Games are only getting bigger in size we see this with the +100GB games on XOX and PC. But more importantly look at how expensive everything else is in this system.
