A rambling history of AMD and nVidia's rise to the top

A few people have had early looks at the intel gpu - reports are not good

While I haven't read about or seen anything about what is to come, I won't judge them on the performance of the card they showed at CES. An early, low range, and possibly driver hampered showpiece more geared to getting devs acquainted than for consumers. And Intel seems to have set their minds to it. It's a keystone in their HPC roadmap. I think it's unlikely they'll just wash their hands of the project if the first generation is sub par. They're more likely to come back swinging with experience under their belt it seems to me. But I'm no industry expert. It's just the feeling I get from watching all of this from afar.
