Default Pros and Cons to use dynamic flow control in shaders

Hi guys, I wanna know what effects dynamic flow control will bring to us on next-gen hardware/software platform. To be specific, the idea of dynamic flow control is quite promising: skipping unnecessary shader excution, decreasing numbers of shader switches, better flexbility, etc. But I'm also concerned that whether these paper advantages will be translated to better performance on next-gen platform( both software and hardware wise ). And if it had a chance not to be, why is that?

It should result in better performance, both because of the ability to skip instructions and because of fewer and smaller shaders needed. But more important IMHO is that it's more flexible and convenient.
