Er, it's not going to be tomorrow in Germany for another 3 or 4 hours, is it?

Before the bashing and gloating begins, I'd like to point out that while its much at default settings Parhelia is as fast or slightly faster then GF4 when using AF and is faster then GF4 with 16x FSAA on, while delivering better edge quality. Despite the immature drivers, it is on par with/faster then GF4 in MAX quality tests, and it will only get better from here. From the looks of it, Matrox accomplished what they set out to do - deliver a solid competitor at maximum quality. It is expansive though.

I can't read German but I saw the benchmarks.

All I can say is odd.

looks abour right .. perfomance hit is really small , but the initial perfomance is a little slow

and to see the texture quality on the geforce 4 beeing better than the parhelia is suprising

i hope future drivers will increase the perfomance

I have a feeling someone will bash the card royally ..

I don't see how anyone can bash this card, it gets 7,201 frames per second in 3DMark2001SE!

From the previews, I thought it would be a bit faster with all the bells and whistles turned on. Thats what the Parhelia is all about right? So I am a bit surprised, and a bit dissapointed to see those numbers. I hope they really improve those numbers with future driver releases.

On a side note, I can't read german but I have to say that Tom really surprised me. Thats the first time I have visited that site in about 2 years (for obvious reason ) and I was pleasantly surprised to see that his testing methods have improved.

and of course it'll only get better.. who doesn't remember the 8500 launch

plus the matrox drivers are v1.00.25 , see you again in a month

Nappe1, hellbinder has already commenting on the rage3d forums i don't think it will be too long until he appears here as well lol. Also i wonder why the ut2003 benchmark wasn't used, i think ill wait until other reviews are up before commenting fully on them

What was it that was said in Field of dreams? I think it was "if you buid it, they will come"..... well in this case it should be "if you ignore them, they will leave!"

If any one saw his antics at rage3d.com, you will know what Nappe1 is talking about.

I think "Frames per second" must be German for "3D Marks"

Fuz: I am something called "jääräpää" here in finland. (well, that's common with HellBinder, but different way... )

anyways, I am going to buy Parhelia sooner or later... I am just sold just to get that 16xFAA for my older games.

as some ppl here knows, I am NFS enthuastic almost in concrete meaning and I can just imagine how NFS 3 (HP), 4 (RC/HS) and 5 (PU/Porsche2000) are going look with 16xFAA.

One thing i like about is he knows EVERYTHING about the r300 , how much it's gonna cost, when it's coming out , and how fast it will be

but I think i'll wait and see how the r300 performs before ... but i'm not in the fps game so the parhelia is more than adequate for my needs

So I did last summer about Avalanche. Too bad that everything doesn't goes as planned in this business. (Cursed Bitboys (Pyramid3Ds, Glaze3Ds, Avalanches), Rendition Verite V3300 and V4400, Matrox G800, 3dfx Rampage & Sage, etc... the list is pretty big.)

So you have made a pretty wise decision with not jumping the gun.

well, maybe some of us (like me) has to burn their fingers before noticing that hyping "something coming soon" isn't usually very wise.

What is "jääräpää"?

I too will buy a Parhelia board, just to try it out for my self and make up my own mind. Bench mark numbers don't always tell the whole story!

Ofcourse I will also have to buy the R300 and the NV300 too

Is anyone really surprised by they scores? Seriously? From everything I have heard and read about the card, its preforms just about exactly what I thought it would. Maybe a little slower, but it will get a little faster with drivers, but not that much I would expect.
