Default Catalyst Driver Problems?

I am having a few problems with my 9700 pro, I am currently using Catalyst 4.2 driver set.

Quake3 1.30

There seems to be a problem with texture compression in Quake3, it looks like the driver is not disabling texture compression. By default texture compression is disabled using the 1.30 patch.

I have taken screen shots of the problems here:
http://www.picturevillage.com/photo/...=4063&aid=5828

The first shot was taken using the opengl driver from the 4.2 set. The second shot was taken using the opengl driver from the 3.5 set.

If you look at the textures on the machine gun in the first shot you can see that they are blocky and there is what looks like a broken / dotted line along the straight edge on the top of the gun. In the second shot the machine gun texture is smooth as it should be with compression disabled. I have tested drivers from 3.6 to 4.1 and they all show this problem.

UT2003 using direct 3d renderer

Using the deathmatch plunge map the target texture flickers and dissapears

The shots were taken in succession, the first shot is how it should look.

The target texture flickers as you move toward / away from it and can disappear when you are close to the wall depending on your viewing angle. This problem doesn’t happen when using the opengl renderer.

Has anyone else experienced these problems or is it just me?
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
