Albatron PX875P/ PX865PE series of mainboards gear up for Pentium 4 Extreme Edition and Prescott CPUs!

Albatron Technology Co., LTD., a leading manufacturer and global distributor of high technology PC components recently announced its fleet of “Prescott Ready” mainboards that include the PX875P, PX865PE and PX865PE Lite. Albatron recently put the finishing touches on its latest BIOS editions that allow those boards to take full advantage of the upcoming Pentium Prescott CPUs as well as the just-released Pentium 4 Extreme Edition CPUs. Existing owners of the aforementioned mainboards will also be able to move up to the new processors by easily obtaining and flashing a new BIOS upgrade.

The Intel Pentium 4 Prescott processors will employ a smaller “process technology” which is faster and more energy efficient than the current 130-nanometer (0.13 micron) standard. Also, with the circuitry being more compact, additional real estate on the CPU is available for more cache memory. This allows for a much higher hit rate in cache memory which means that the CPU can find more information within its own local memory, eliminating the processing needed to obtain the information elsewhere. The Prescott core also includes new instructions added to the graphics extension set to improve 3D graphics and multimedia performance. Finally, the Prescott processors will include Hyper-Threading technology, a sophisticated mechanism for simulating the multi-thread processing of dual CPUs.

The Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processors also feature very impressive numbers. This CPU runs at an incredible 3.20 GHz, contains 2 MB of L3 cache and also includes Hyper-Threading technology. This high-end processor will be especially useful for game players and power users with advanced graphical or computational applications.
Albatron continues to show its ingenuity for producing expandable, adaptable mainboards with extended product life cycles. With the “Prescott Ready” mainboards, new users will have the luxury of buying into the latest technologies with the option of performance upgrades later when the Prescott CPUs are officially released. Existing mainboard owners will also be able to move up to the P4 Extreme Edition or the Prescott with a simple BIOS upgrade.

Gotta remember that 3.2Ghz P4 means integer units running at a whopping 6.4Ghz, jesus, for that kind of speed you need.... wun-point-twenny-wun-jiggawatts!

I think that integer unit running at twice the speed of the stated clock was a misunderstanding of some terms used by the engineers when it was being demod.

I'm pretty dang sure it doesn't do integer ops at 2x the clock rate.

Well its doubled pumped, so it isn't really twice the clock and I guess its unlikely the processer can keep them occupied constantly at that speed but still...;p
