Default ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 PRO

Today ATI are announcing the latest addition to the popular, and highly functional “All-In-Wonder” series, the all All-In-Wonder 9600 PRO. Following on from the All-In-Wonder 9800 PRO the All-In-Wonder 9600 PRO is tailored towards the mainstream multimedia market by being powered by the second of ATI’s Spring Refresh parts, Radeon 9600’s RV350 chip.

Far be it from being just a straight copy of the All-In-Wonder 9800 PRO, the 9600 PRO does boast a few new features...

On the graphics side, the first new element to the All-In-Wonder 9600 PRO is that for the first time in the series ATI are supporting a single combined output on the back of the board, including the VGA outputs. This enables the use of multi-monitor output as the output cable supports two VGA ports.

On the multimedia side the tuner has been changed to not just support TV broadcasts, but FM Radio as well. ATI’s Mulimedia Center software suite has been upgraded to 8.6 to provide tuner functionality to support FM Radio. Multimedia Center 8.6 contains further software enhancements, such as the ability the channel surf within EAZYLOOK and the ability to burn directly to DVD from the library.

Whereas the All-In-Wonder 9800 PRO is presently bundled with ATI’s "Remote Wonder" RF remote control, the All-In-Wonder 9600 PRO will feature ATI’s new Remote Wonder II. The Remote Wonder II has been enhanced to now boast a 60 foot range, give a much more tactile mouse control, has 6 programmable buttons and 4 auxiliary buttons. The RF receiver now comes as a more appealing 'pod', which also has input ports on it allowing for future upgradeability.

All-In-Wonder 9600 PRO is expected to go on sale later this month at a suggested retail price of $249.

Very compelling. A 5600U retails for $250, too, no?

I sooo wish we had an option to have some kind of dual monitor on the older aiw on supposedly higher end cards

I have dual monitor but there are some serious bugs when running the tv window simultaneously with other apps

Wooooo! XD I was about to buy a refurbished 9700Pro All-In-Wonder from New Egg next week for $302! Unless this release prompts a price drop on the 9700AIW, I'm picking one of these up retail to get the full warrenty and save $50 to boot... while getting some upgraded features! Man, I'm looking forward to this card. I wonder if it will overclock as well as the normal 9600s... or if the greater complexity of the board will hold it back.

I'm not sure why it ended up as guest... anyway... I found a very exciting hint to my answer about clock speed:

We’ve been told by representatives from ATI that the ALL-IN-WONDER 9600 PRO will be the first ALL-IN-WONDER card to ship with clock frequencies higher than its counterpart (which is clocked at 400MHz core/600MHz memory), so the ALL-IN-WONDER 9600 PRO should be the fastest RADEON 9600 PRO card ATI offers directly

they had been talking about slightly higher clock speeds when I went to see this in toronto a few weeks back, however they didn't managed to conform to me what they would be. Rage3D say they have confirmation that they will be 400/325.

Dave, John Swinimer is on vacation. Benchmark Porternovelli, a PR firm used by ATI confirmed the clocks in conversation yesterday

SO when is this supposed to come out? I went to FRY'S and they have it in their system. The guy said it will be around 2 weeks before they see the cards...

Where did you hear that they will offer the cable with DVI and VGA cables???

September 13th should be the shipping date of the 9600 Pro, same day as HL2 goes gold....

...coincidence?

Very nice product from ATi. I'm impressed with how they finagled the dual-VGA support. Sweet price point, too.

Hmm... no DVI is going to put off a lot of people, but I guess it's a fair compromise to make. I wonder if there will be an AIW Radeon 9600XT?

Strange !

I have already seen an advertisement for an Athlon 3000+ with an R9600Pro All-in-Wonder for Euro 1199,- last week in an german newpaper. So this computer should be in stores already here.

I found AiW Radeon 9600 Pro being offered at Mwave.com for $228.45!

If you go to the product catalog section at www.Mwave.com, select video cards, and then select "list items from highest price first", you'll find the AiW Radeon 9600 Pro being offered.
