Could be, we will find out later tomorrow either way! Hopefully some EU site breaks the embargo a few hours early and puts their articles up at midnight GMT so they don't have to wake up at 5am!

I wonder if reviews will be released today or wednesday?
Those tests were done on an i7@4.4Ghz, while the one from harwareluxx have been done on a X6 @ 4GHz. And no, those aren't overclocked unless GPU-Z says so - he said CCC limits overclocking at 950mhz.

Seems ~10% faster than 570? Does that mean it is almost tied with 580?

A little cherrypicking there (no tesselation in Metro, etc.), but nice results nonetheless, should tackle a GTX580 in some of those cases.

everybody seems to forget that these are the 190W benchmarks and that pushing the slider up to 20% higher TDP allows for different results.

Hint about pricing of HD6970 from Gibbo/OCuk:

But what if it was £100 or more cheaper?

Of course from GTX580
That should be right around GTX570 pricing which is better than I've expected!

I dont see how the 6970 could be faster but cheaper then a gtx580. Its either faster and more expensive or slower and cheaper.

Why ?

If they can sell a 6970 for $400 and make money on it then that is what amd will do. Whats it matter the price of the gtx 580. It would make more sense actually to put the squeeze on nvidia who has the larger chip.

AMD will also have a dual gpu verison of cayman released in early 2011 . So that can sit there at the $600 or above price bracket.

Maybe the slider also increases the price.

Because historically faster products do not sell for less and AMD are in the business of making money so if they can add a few bucks more then why not ?

Because they can get a larger market share, and put pressure on nvidia to reduce their margins?

They already have a larger market share - in fact, if they even sold DX11 cards at a 2:1 ratio to Nvidia, they'd still lose market share.

And the margin game doesn't help AMD, esp. since Nvidia can sell cards to the HPC / pro market at a high margin

ssh! don't tell, otherwise he'll use CSI reverse cryptograhy to rebuild md5 tags and create the full image and lay waste on all the non 1920SP owners.
