Default Paper & Paper Roleplaying: Witcher 2 Fun

More info and photos if you follow link.

You get given a whole lot of junk at games conferences. By junk I do mean junk – nasty pens, ill-fitting t-shirts, mysterious plastic shapes, lanyards, low-capacity flash drives, ugly posters… Most of it doesn’t live past the hotel bin. The CD Projekt RED guys, however, came up absolute trumps, combining splendid form with genuinely useful function. Rather than providing a biro and a CD-R full of screenshots, they decided to create an entire alternate Witcher game, stick it in a box, and give it to everyone who came to see the demo.

This is The Witcher 2: Papercraft Of Kings, and it’s the best press kit I’ve ever been given.

They’ve mocked up a full-size PC game box, of the generous proportions, excess of information and glorious gatefold covers we sadly no longer see in this age of identi-DVD cases. Inside is a collection of superdeformed DIY papercraft Witcher characters and weapons, from which you’re encourage to create your own non-linear roleplaying adventures. Aw. Haven’t built ‘em yet, but it’s only a matter of time, trust me... (follow link to read more and see photos!)

New material available. Here's a trailer named "Prison Break": http://www.4players.de/4players.php/...son_Break.html

edit: Or maybe not new, but at least a better version than the previous release

Day one purchase for me. I enjoyed the first one immensely. And this looks like is going in the right direction (I'm looking at you DA2!).

The Witcher 2 is looking as good as much as Dragon Age 2 is looking bad. Oh well, you win some you lose some

Gah, seeing this thread updated, I just realized, I once again have failed to finish the Witcher. I'm not sure what it is about this game that just doesn't grab me like DAO or other RPGs have. I mean the combat sucks, but that shouldn't be enough to prevent me from being drawn in.

Going to have to give this some thought... Maybe it's partially due to lack of interesting items.

SB

Really?!?!? :-O

I dunno... i really liked it... It remined me of that old PS2 game summoner where the fighting is essentially a rythm game where you have to press the attack button in time to do your combos. I didn't really need any more complicated stuff in the combat for that game... perhaps if there were more weapons & armour though...

Still... i thoroughly enjoyed The Witcher, (although it frustrated the life outta me that i messed up the conversation so i wasn't able to bone the green lady in that enchanted forrest ).

This game is gonna be the game that makes me upgrade my PC... big time

Combat in The Witcher got tiresome after a while. The game was good for other reasons IMO.

If The Witcher 2 can pull off interesting combat while keeping or improving on the other aspects of The Witcher we are in for a real treat.

Dragon Age 2 looks like Dynasty Warriors compared to this and Dead State.

This is the game that will suck me up next year. I will pre-order the fatest, richest CE edition.

Applauses for CD Project Red, their dedication is mindblowing.

Yeah combat was completely and totally bleh.

And yes, I have now started the Witcher 5 times. And have failed to finish each time. I start out really liking it, and then at some point I get sidetracked by something else and just never pick it up again. The last time I managed to make it to Chapter 3 at least.

I'll probably give Witcher 2 a try, maybe. Assuming it doesn't feature the same combat. Then again perhaps it's just the fact that I generally hate realtime non-tactical combat in an RPG. Meh who knows. I liked the game. Just never have been able to finish it.

SB

I've played the witcher once, loved it, trying to play it again but it's so long it's hard to focus my energy on it, with so many other games.

Second time through I followed a guide because one of the stories had completely glitched stuff up for me. I followed the witcher wikia and enjoyed a very awesome experience of the game. I had nearly even maxed out Geralt's abilities, unlocked the most powerful weapons and iirc the armor as well the second time around. It was a very immersive experience of that there is no doubt. I look forward to Witcher 2 with much anticipation.

Default May 17, 2011 release date

http://www.vg247.com/2010/11/16/witc...-2011-release/

Quote:
Along with a release date, the firm has promised more “hot news” coming on November 18 during the CD Projekt Conference.

“We’ve decided to move the launch date back a few weeks to afford us more time to polish the game,” aid Adam Badowski, project lead at CD Projekt RED. “Of course, we know that players would like to get the game as soon as possible, so we hope that they will forgive us! We strongly believe that the extra time spent polishing the title will be well worth the wait”.

Apparently, at the conference later on this week, there will be more detailed information about the approaching worldwide launch of the title, as well as the Collector’s Edition of The Witcher 2. Moreover, CD Projekt RED will present pre-order information from all around the world.

During the conference, the the developers will explain their philosophy with regards to DRM implementation in their titles and they will let us know how it influenced the edition of the game.
They should use Steamworks.
