Default I am torn...

...whether to upgrade next month my current video cards to some oclocked BFG 285s...or to upgrade my car stereo...(currently non existent since it got stolen when I came to Atlanta for work and havent fixed it since then)...I could get the video cards next month and then upgrade my stereo the month after that but I cant decide. Also does anyone know of any impending video card releases?

Upgrade the car stereo first. The 285s may drop in price in the meantime. ATI has the 4890 products hitting within a week.

I thought about that but the price to performance ratio just does not cut it. I can easily match an i7 simply by cranking up the clock speed...of course to a certain point but its not like I can sense the increase in speed. It will only be more visible in benchmarks and so forth.

Besides I plan on upgrading the rest of my system next year probably when the 32 nm of the Nehalem gets pushed out. I always like to make sure I buy a CPU on a different die shrink.

Well, yeah, but GPUs are moving forward way faster than CPUs. For example, this time next year, i7 bought this year could stay, but you would want a pair of GT300.

Yeah I definitely want to upgrade my video cards next year in fact my whole system and this one will be relegated to becoming a multimedia machine or something. Overpowered but oh well

Was just doing some reading and it seems :
2 x 285 > 1 x 295 and 3 x 285 > 2 x 295...

While it is true, but I aint forking out for a GT300. I am forking out next year once the 6 core Westmere is out for my new system build Whatever the latest and greatest is at that point, thats what I will be forking out for.
