Largely seems to have gone unnoticed at least in the English press, but when my wife showed off Super Rub-a-dub to a guest yesterday the game updated to version 3.0 (about 40-45mb). After this update, the game seems to run smoother, has bubbles in the water to show off the tech a bit more (I think at least, maybe I just didn't remember), supports rumble, you can play with more ducks and also win more, for instance now also for rescuing 100% of the ducks in all levels, or scoring in the top 500 on all levels (seems very hard), there's a monthly scoreboard as well as all-time, and the game has an in-game store, so it seems some additional stuff may be coming. It also doesn't seem to ask what language to play anymore at startup, defaulting instead to the XMB language, and shows additional stuff on the level select screen when you've completed a level.

There was also a strange bug for me, maybe having to do with having replaced my harddrive. When I did the update it resorted back to the demo mode and told me I had to unlock the full game. I just downloaded the unlock again from my download history (which works great) and then it worked again.

Glad to see this excellent game get some more attention. I would instant-buy additional levels or multi-player modes as soon as they show up myself. Also interesting to see that the game has quite a few players still, the monthly scoreboard has plenty of entries it seems - I golded a few levels again to see if that netted me the 100% rescued tag on the levels, braking some old records, and that gold put me at something like 300th position in the monthly leaderboard.

Nice! It's been ages since I last played Rub-A-Duck.
It would be even nicer if the update had included trophy support.

I might need to check some other older games too, if they've got some secret updates.

Secret updates would be rubbish! Sony should send PM's to PSN accounts regards game updates.

I went on the NA store earlier, and found they have commercial themes, including university themes.

Also we're going to see compnay specific storefronts starting with Capcom :

The Capcom storefront is a great idea. I've never thought of such a use. Could coincide nicely with Home as well.

Just hit me that they have this feature in their movie store. Glad to see it move over to the games section.

This weeks update wasn't bad, but I think I'm letting it slide in light of the Resistance 2 Public Beta...feels so good to get back into this

Sad that Age of Booty was delayed on PSN though

Default Heh, too funny...

The PAIN! team convinced David Hasselhoff to appear in the game. I am not sure how much convincing is needed really. This man was jealous of Pamela Anderson when she stole the limelight from him in Babewatch. Where is the comparison to begin with ? >_<

Quote:
When I was first approached about PAIN, I really didn’t know what to think. I mean, it’s great to think that someone would want to put me in a game, but THIS game is all about flinging people into walls, smashing them into cars, and spanking monkeys. While I wholeheartedly approve of the monkey spanking, I wasn’t too sure about the rest of the game.

The ETA for Home public beta is end October/early November, if they haven't changed their plans.

Not sure if applications like Dress will make it on time (May be not since we only saw a trailer in TGS thus far).

Super Stardust PSP just showed up on the PSP store ... I got it, it's a 78mb download. I'm at work so couldn't try it in detail, but my quick impressions:

I tried the game extremely briefly and it seems competent, although it's weird not having the planet around you, which makes this a more traditional sort of asteroids. But the three weapons are still there (d-pad), as is the boost (L) and the bomb (R). Moving is analog, shooting around you works with the face buttons which you can use basically as a d-pad (two buttons give you a diagonal) but if you keep more buttons pressed you automatically fire in a circular motion, which is very useful of course for the fire weapon. The first section ended with one of those nuclear plant things that explodes in Stardust HD in survivor mode, so things have been mixed up a bit.

Framerate is very smooth, graphics look pretty decent, effects seem fairly excellent - not the PS3, but certainly PSP worthy.

Picked up The Last Guy and SSF2THD Remix. Love them both.

I must say, I tried the Dead Space demo and ugh, I didn't like it all that much.

It should be. I hear it's using that third party / freeware developed system that was specifically designed to make beat 'm ups on emulation software like Mame run smoothly online.

It's an emulation? OK, I guess they didn't want to spend too much time developing an old game.

But I guess there's a new SF game coming out too anyways.

If memory serves me, you'll need to get PSN cards for the specific region you want to buy something from. Check out Play-asia for Asian PSN cards. Not sure about where to find EU cards (outside of Ebay), however.

I think you can only use a US PSN card to upgrade your US PSN account.

As far as I am aware, the EU PSN cards haven't been launched yet.
