Default need advice with RS690 mobo

For last 2h I was trying to make sound work on Foxconn A6VMX MB with RS690G on-board and 3600 video - installing XP pro
Everything worked fine with the exception of Realterk HD audio device with yellow exclamation

What I did was install AMD chipset drivers, then Realtek HD - went to the situation above.
Then I started deinstalling, rebooting, installing ... with no success - no sound was coming out, no way to make Realtek device work - with some versions installer failed with error E0000227, with some versions it installed - reboot - no sound.
Finally I gave up, tomorrow I'll reainstall from scratch... but I have no idea what was the error , any ideas?
Searching google I found advices to deinstall Microsoft UAA HD-patch - which I did with no success

Is this "3600 video" being Radeon HD3650?
If it is, could it be that the realtek driver tried to install itself on the 3650's sound controller instead of the one on motherboard for some reason?

The 3650 has a onboard audio that uses realtek drivers. Make sure the drivers are for the motherboards onboard audio and that your using the right drivers.

The Realtek drivers are the AC97 drivers for the ALC662 ic.

Huh? The Radeons as far as I know shouldn't need Realtek drivers for the gfx chip audio?

All the ATI/AMD video cards that have the Doby Digital 5.1 and 7.1 from the HDMI need the Realtek drivers.

whoa, I haven't thought about that, yep its 3650 ...
Too bad i can't take out the 3650 and first make sound work - the case is sealed
I used drivers from MB - they are ATi 7.7 and Realtek HD 1.93
Any idea if audio on 3650 can be disabled?
Thats my first such combo... what is expected in the end? To have both ati&realtek sound devices or?

well, uninstalled SP3, uninstalled MS HDA patch, system found devices and installed Realtek HD device... and there was sound
Looks like the on-video sound device is not installed but i don't care - PC will be used just for gaming things like CS&WoW ...
A coleague of mine suggested setting on-board device to AC97 instead of HD, then installing AC97 for on-board audio - but BIOS lacks such option it just has enable/disable

They do? My device manager has 2 audio devices, one is High Definition Audio Device, which is HD3850 and the other is my motherboards realtek hd audio. As far as I know, if I just plugged DVI>HDMI adapter now in I should get the sound out, no need for realtek drivers.
The High Definition Audio Codec is using Microsoft driver.

Considering I've installed only 1 set of audio drivers and I have realtek hd audio manager in my systray, which shows my motherboards audio jack statuses etc, I'm quite sure I have them the right way around

I have always got my updated sound drivers form realtek for the ATI hd video cards. If you go to Realtek's web site and go to the download page. In the HD audio you will find ATI HDMI audio device drivers.

Ye I know there's such, but IIRC it was stated here once that it wasn't for HD Radeons but something else ATI related?
Dave Baumann, could you come and clear this once and for all?

That is the driver I use to install the the HDMI onboard audio on the ATI HD cards. I have used it to install for the hd 2900xt, hd2600xt, and hd3650.
