It doesn't look like any part of either trailer is realtime.

You can also find them in better quality on gametrailers.com.

I don't know if you can say any uses better tech, but I certainly like the art-style for Versus a lot more than FF XIII's. XIII's looks very generic in comparison.

Nomura is definetly trying new things with Versus 13's design, I really like the more realistic, mature looking and underworld-ish direction. It'll natrually draw players closer to the characters with the familiarity of the "real world", also the music score is simply beautiful, it fits the theme nicely and really shroud you inside that atmosphere.

All the scenes with "frozen waves" in XIII trailer are realtime, and the last scene in Versus XIII [girl watching the picture on the wall] is also realtime.
Im very impressed with Versus XIII. Awesome design and music.

I remember hearing/reading that the Crystal Tools/Engine, then the White Engine (IIRC), started off on the PS2, for FFXIII. At some point, they determined they would be better off moving to the PS3 due to timing, if I remember correctly. I cant remember what interview this was discussed in. IGN comes to mind, though.
EDIT Hey, I found it. I think there are more articles discussing this as well. Quote:

Thank you for your reply.
So, then in fact the game engine has nothing really to do with PS2. Anyway, Arwin's post seems to be deleted |

Not sure if that starting anew referred to the art and the game design ... It's possible, but I'm thinking they probably only started anew with the rendering engine ("in regard to the game's White Engine") not necessarily the rest of the game. They probably reworked a lot of the art, but starting afresh on everything, I'm not so sure.
And yeah, I don't think my post was noise, but hey, crossfire and all that. |

Agito XIII is definitely coming to PSP, and it's being tailored to the Monster Hunter crowd in Japan.

Good info in regards to FFXIII, from a recent Famitsu, apparently. Covers a little bit of the story, but its main focus is on the battle system. Demo will reportedly be included in the Advent Children Complete "First Print Normal Edition" and "First Print Normal Edition" PS3 Bundle. That's an interesting bundle. Especially if they time it with the rumoured price drop.
EDIT I should note, the Advent Children BD and associated editions and PS3 bundles is in regards to Japan only, at the moment. No word on details for other territories that I'm aware of. Last edited by Gradthrawn; 09-Jan-2009 at 17:20. |

I wonder if that PS3 bundle they will be releasing will be a slimmed down version of the PS3 or not. I mean havent they completed the shrinks for all their components for the PS3?

Slimmed down as in a PSThree?
Doubt it. From what I could see the fan is quite massive and the main reason why the PS3 is so fat. |

From reading some of the threads about process shrinks etc I think that's still a few years away, it took 4 process shrinks over the course of 4-5 years to get a combined PS2 chip, the PS3's just been through 1 round of shrinks. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a slim PS3 until sometime in 2011.

Probably an interesting subject, especially for this forum. But not for this thread, it's very off topic.
