Default Wii reaches 5 million units threshold in Japan
According to Japan-based Enterbrain, Nintendo's current home console Wii has - as of January 20 - sold more than 5 million units in Japan alone. Read the full news item

Now, will the Wii eventually surpass the PS2 install base like the DS did? I'd say, "very likely".
