Default holiday gaming plans?

Anyone looking forward to EXTRA gaming hours over the holidays (unnagged days off)? What are you planning to play?

i have the 2 FEAR sequels coming. (read good review and played demo of that 'perseus mandate' from PC Gamer UK). im in the mood for some modern stuff I think.

i ordered Gears of War as well (though i hear it doesn't live up to the hype). and one other title i can't remember.

still have kane & lynch, Hellgate: London, Timeshift relatively untouched on my disk. but have lost most of my excitement about them for one reason or another.

Maybe I'll replay some older titles. any snow levels in Mafia?

ahh the 4th title was painkiller: whatever.

anyway got them last night. played 1st levels in perseus mandate, and the painkiller sequel. i think im set for the holidays. both are up to my expectations. kinda glad i held off on these titles.

does anyone know if i have to replay FEAR to get to the expansion (extraction) part? or is it that i just need the original FEAR installed so the expansion game can use it's engine or something?

oh, and does anyone have any graphics issues with the painkiller sequel? namely the cube weapon (infinite ammo) that spins in your hand and you can alt fire it into stuff? I seem to have some problem when it spins in my hand (automatically as you walk around with it as your weapon) and it flashes light out of its seams/edges.

Wow, you been looking through my xmas game list?
I have both games mentioned, lined up for playing over the next week or so.
.
FEAR: Perseus Mandate:
(This one is stand alone and doesnt need the orig FEAR installed) Various comments ive read on other forums kind of paints a been there seen that feel to the game. If you have played the first 2 then the 3rd is really just more of the same. (And no you dont need to complete the first FEAR to allow you to play the second, Extraction Point, it creates new shortcuts to open the game. IIRC)
.
Painkiller: Overdose:
The second game ive got lined up.
After reading comments about the orig Painkiller in this forum, i went out and bought myself a copy of the "Black Edition" that comes with the second expansion that was released "Battle Out Of Hell", well what can i say, that was the best £10 ive ever spent, especially the first one, great game, cant praise it enough.
So couldnt resist it when i saw a copy of Overdose in my local game shop, dont know what it'll be like but if its half as good as Painkiller ill be happy.
.
Race 07:
Im really sad for sim racing games especially GTR2, so i thought id give the latest Simbin game a whirl. Some really good tight touring car action. Graphically very nice, but unless you have a wheel, i wouldnt fancy trying to play it with a keyboard!

Dude, seriously. Not this shit again...

I've also got both FEAR expansions (got them CHEAP), Timeshift, Gears of War (got that a few days back), and I'm waiting on Kane & Lynch to arrive.

I have lost all care to play these games. I think about firing up Gears of War and just can't 'psych myself into it', so to speak. I think I'll start Perseus Mandate tonight (the first expansion, whatsitcalled? Doesn't interest me because it requires the original FEAR, which I have no idea where it is, which I can't be stuffed digging up and reinstalling). I watched a few too many gameplay vids for K&L too, which I think is what turned me off of that, I now have no desire to play it.

And for whatever amount of irony it's worth, just last month I found myself thinking "I wish there was some cool graphical mods for Mafia. What about snow?", but I never hunted anything down. Let me know if you find something!

*edit* Ahahaha, 2 seconds in google provides everything you need... Just look at this, beautifull.

(hope that link works)

I am so trying it tonight.

*edit* Grammar alert! I noticed that the 'Image reduced' text on this imageboard says "is sized whatever x whatever, and weights xxxxKB".

WoW. I turned 70 last night on my new main, spent over 60k in honor and got on an arena team with a guildy for a 2v2. Pity Skrying isn't around now, though. Him and I could paint the town red.

I also plan to delve further into "The Witcher" after yesterday's arrival of the new patch. It sounds a lot more enjoyable now.

Sadly, all of my gaming plans are console and handheld. My PC just can't handle anything anymore. There are quite a few PC games I'd like to play.

The mighty Davros takes pity on poor Scott_Arm and commands him to download these great games

IDT champcar challenge - http://www.gamershell.com/news/26175.html

The Babylon Project - http://babylon.hard-light.net/base_downloads.php

And he also reminds Scott (not that scott needs reminding because he knows that its one of the greatest games ever made) that Freespace 2 open is free and that he can get it here:
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/ind...c,38195.0.html

The mighty Davros also knows that Scott will download these games otherwise he will be severely slapped with a large fish........

rock it davros! that's the way i play...ignorant. it's amazing how it can turn out!

if i wasn't a libertarian, i'd be crying and sending you free games. maybe i get credit for that!

BTW these games i mentioned ALL of them ROCK. so far

also timeshift...revisited...has some roughspots, limited interaction, but i enjoy the visuals...i wish there was more potential to exploit...not be forced into using timeshift stuff.
RUN!

all that on 1 rig?

im about to incorporate my antec 550W WITH my 680W (on my original rig) so i can go Vista with dual (SLI) Nvidia MAXawhatzits (quad?), and add another 150G raptor. im thinking, for now, i'll just let the 550W hang out on the floor (not in the case)...then im gonna explore dual widescreens. (or more)...without borders of course. panoramix!

anyway, FYI, FEAR Perseus Mandate is the BOMB! it ROCKS! i LOVE it! it's like my favorites in spirit (NOLFS,JAMESBOND)...

i love the cityscapes...the office buildings (even no repeating art on the walls that i've noticed), the 'behind the scenes' areas in cities (sewers, etc).

and im only in chapter 2!

Hahah, sorry, didn't include a download link.

I tried quite a few sites, but in the end, this was (of course) the best;

http://mafia.planet-multiplayer.de/d...page=1&show=20

I grabbed the 3rd one down (154mb, zipped, english), but that's because I didn't really need the installer since I have all my game files unpacked and everything. You might want the very bottom one, which is english + installer

*edit* My god... Mafia Optimized mod! You must get it! (need to register, hopefully it works for you, I was lucky to have an old account)

http://mafiascene.com/modules.php?na...st_id=0&page=1

It makes the game infinitely better. I always wanted a draw distance mod, can't believe I missed this!

*double-edit* I think this is a better snow mod, I might give it a shot shortly;

http://mafiascene.com/modules.php?na...st_id=0&page=3

Bought Oblivion yesterday and I plan on putting some time into it to see what it's like.

Today, going to play NWN2 with the wife. I drive, she's the navigator.

Also plan on beating HL2: ep1 & 2.

Umm, I also want to get into Bioshock. It's just waiting in the wings with Company of Heroes.

Other than that. If all goes well, I'll still have time to load Ubuntu on an old laptop.

... It's just the ModDB page for GTA : SA. I'm assuming Digi means to say that he's replay (playing?) GTA : SA these holidays. Or, Digi, do you mean to say that you're going to be playing lots of various mods for the game?

Well im playing/replaying ALL 3 FEAR games. Happy to report that they ALL use the same magazine, wall art, etc. AND im HAPPY about that. Turns out it's been 2 years since my last replay of FEAR1, so i didn't remember. These are quality games considering the competition. i hope MORE 'bigname' producers consider where the econoimies lie.

FEAR is a GREAT game. i think i was a bit less than excited about when it came out. this game is like an HL1 with better graphics give or take. anyway, im still playing all three. and i've heard the sequels are merely mods. which is something that should be accounted for, or not.
