Ooh! Language or I'll spend next summers computing power on someones elses project!! ;o)
Besides I'm in the land that the internet forgot, the nearest broadband is six miles away and that's slow... The next show should be better, dual core beasties and nearly a hundred of the buggers. By then I should have slipped back down the rankings again. But it's nice to have a competition and I managed to drag the team up a few places in the overall list. I've been getting emails from other teams asking whether I'd consider swapping over, so it must have attracted a little bit of attention!! But as I said to them, I was in this team from the beginning and it's this team I remain loyal to. It's just a shame I can't yet get all the computing power I have access to online as well. So Slyne, the shows all yours now... Can you live up to the challenge!!! ;o)

And we all commend and celebrate your loyalty!
(Although, you perhaps you should remind the other teams that personal/team "glory" isn't what its all about, as all members of all teams are folding for the good of the research and we are all contributing regardless of the team! |

Well, I am going to be on vacation for a couple weeks, so my production is going to dwindle while most of my machines are shut down. Enjoy this time to pull away!

errr... I just noticed I'm the sixth most productive member in this page.
My f@h machines are the office PC (sempron 2800+, i believe) 24/7, my home "server" (p4 2.6ht) 24/3.5 and my laptop (p4 3.2ht) doing work whenever I use it (not too much, it resembles a small nuclear power plant It has been too easy for the team's sake... |

I'm number ten now.
After posting that, I noticed I jumped to number 4 (or 5, can't remember) but now my average is rather low. I've been getting some big WUs which might explain this behaviour. |

Bump!
I have only one PC (in office), and it takes ages to finish even one WU. |

I've noticed we're slipping down the ranks as a team so I've pestered some friends into also running Folding at home. Simon, Mike1 and Unholy666 are all now folding with a few more cpu's to add between them yet. Won't make a massive difference I know but every little helps.

I just joined your ranks. I got couple computers at home (Opteron 146 @ 2.9GHz and some Celeron laptop) and one at work (3400+ A64). Not sure if I can run all them 24/7, but they're up most of the time.
edit: Miksu is my nick in Folding.

And now Brynmor joins our very select 200,000+ pts club. Next one should be Joe, since Russ hasn't produced anything lately.
Thanks for bringing a bit of animation in these parts, I am starting to feel a bit lonely. Sage doesn't want to compete for 1st position anymore it seems, so I'm getting bored. As for the team, overall production seems to be going down. We definitely need Bonobo back in these parts. He said he was about to resume activity recently, but there's nothing yet. PS: I just got my 2,000th WU done, Yay! |

How do you know if this is working or not?
I didn't come here to this place for this.... yet I've always wondered what "folding@home" was. Once I read the FAQ, I decided that at the very least, I should turn on my extra PC and set it up in order to help (even a little bit.. which is all it is). So I followed the link, and tried to set it up and didn't get any error messages or anything.. But... Is it actually working? Sure.. I like Beyond3D. It's a great resource. But I don't really give a damn about being "part of the team" or "winning" anything. I decided to download the program and turn on my extra PC because its sitting here doing nothing at all, and if it can actually help (as the FAQ said it could), then I'd much rather have it do something than sit idle and do nothing. So.. my question is.... How do I check? I know that the PC that I just "enlisted" is slow and pathetic by today's standards. It's only a 900Mhz system.. but it's doing nothing else at all. Is it even worth it to attempt to contribute? Am I just wasting my time and my processing power and my bandwidth? This seems like a very good cause.... If I've got an extra PC sitting around that's doing nothing at all, that can actually contribute to something worthwhile... I'd like to do so. I don't really care if I only contribute 1/1000th of "a point". To me, that's still 1/1000th of a point that wouldn't have existed otherwise. |
