Default Team Fortress 2 gameplay footage

Speaking as a very old school Team Fortress player, I can't wait to get my chubby mitts on Team Fortress 2. Unlike the hilarious Heavy Weapons Guy and Soldier videos released by Valve, this shows actual gameplay footage:

Looks great. It's gonna run like garbage on my PC, but I'll play it anyway.

Ugh, that had to of been the console version or that is one of the worst gamers I've ever seen.

That was gamepad gameplay. So it could be console version footage, or worse... PC footage but played with a gamepad

This game looks so good. I used to spend most of my waking hours playing TFC. Good thing I'm too responsible to do it again w/TF2

It looks similiar to TFC which isn't a good thing from a QWTF-player's point of view. But, I've waited around 7 years for this game so hopelly it turns out to be good.

I used to play TFC for Half Life back in college. I was probably one of those guys that got the heavy weapons guys nerfed. Most of my games were typically 10:1 or better kill ratios. Heavy armor, big gun, and those grenades they gave us == lots of killing power.

I try to play it now and boy is that class a shell of its former self hehe.

And thus I am dropped out of the magical hype world of the character introduction and marketing videos by what looks remarkably like "just a shooty deathmatch game".

They should forget the game and start working on the video series I reckon.

I pretty much ate and breathed TFC from 1999 through to 2003... and looking at that footage gives me the same warm fuzzies that I had back when I first started to play it. It looks fresh, but familiar.

*cough* ...and of course the FF mod will be released this month sometime as well... so TF fans will be getting a double wammy of HL2-based TF this fall.

QWTF yes, TFC not a lot. I never liked the way TFC or Halflife1 felt in multiplayer.

Does knowing that make you more or less confused?

No because I don't know what you were expecting from TF2. Though now I know you never really played TFC so I guess that's why you were disappointed? Just a guess.

My comment was more about how Valve have managed to create two seperate and distinct things with TF2, really, more so than disapointment with TF2 or preference for QWTF (in general UT/Quake3 marked the beginning of the end with my love affair with that sort of thing anyway). I just found the contrast interesting.

The video of TF2: The Game just kinda struct me like this, if you know what I mean.

You can now pre-order the Orange Box. As a bonus, if you do that, you're able to play TF2 beta starting next Monday!

urrgghhhhhh!!! so tempting.....
however, I already have HL2 and EP01, dont want to buy them again.
I'll wait for the cheaper EP02/Portal/TF2-only package instead.

I want a headcrab plushie.

These little promo vids have been consistently of really high quality. Probably some of the best game promotional material I've seen.

Are we absolutely sure there will be a steam package with just EP2, TF2 and Portal?

They are gonna start selling, or have started preselling the orange box for $44.95, I'm not sure you're gonna get a better deal than that if you want more than 1 of the 5 pieces.

I was sure they'd do the same, but so far they have pricing for each of the new games individually, and pricing for the orange box.

Same here. I said I would resist but.... heh
Even if I already own HL2 and EP02, I'm not dissapointed. Just the three new games are maybe worth double the price we pay for in my eyes!

When I think about it, giving away keys for duplicates of HL2 could be a very calculated and smart business strategy, not just a convenience feature.

I'm sure Valve has made the majority of the money they're going to make off of HL2 PC already. So if they bundle it with expansions, and have people pass on the key to others, that opens the doors for more people using Steam, buying mods and expansions, as well as buying other games..

I think there will be a bundle with just the new content, but it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't, for the above reason.
