Cheers for the replies guys, please forgive my double post I had originally thought my first one had been filtered out due to it featuring another forum.

Personally I find it disgusting that they actually get away with blatantly mis selling the games based upon dodgy box info. I would definitely be interested in finding what res the Lego games run at certainly the 360 seems far clearer than just about any other game I've got on the 360.

Anyway cheers again

Again, the box info is correct in listing what output resolutions are supported, the resolutions games are rendered at is not listed on boxes.

this site explain about the Lego SW case

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php...d=89969&page=4

@720p

PS3-720p no AA
360-720p AA

@1080p

PS3-960X1080 no AA
X360-same 720P AA then upscale to 1080p.

the lack of AA and the ps3 upscale method doesnt seems to be very good at all.

and add blur on PS3 version for AA, it's always bad choice
add blur on HD screen = SD aspect

Thanks guys, The eurogamer link screen shots perfectly illustrated what I had seen on my own screen.

As I read it (please feel free to correct) @ 720p both consoles are doing 1280 X 720 one with and one without AA. But for 1080p The Ps3 effectively trades of horizontal res for additional vertical.

well having seen the shots I have to say the 360 interpretation is far better graphically than the ps3, guess I'll have to keep waiting for the perfect 1080p Ps3 game...or keep play eve online at 1080 from my PC.

Cheers again

ya man, seems like many developers don't want to try to find away to do HDR + AA so they just use screen filter for a cheap and quick solution. I rather have them no using bluring at all, since if the game does run at native 720p it cant be that bad. In the same link, its weird how Koei actually use screen filter or blurring instead for Gundam Warriors, and Blade Storm for 360 instead of true AA. Its also reported that Dynasty Warriors 6 on 360 also suffer from the same problem. At the moment, only first party games really shine on the PS3.

I dont think 360 can do 1080p? I thought it was restricted like the original xbox was because of its scaler chip.

That's awful to hear this here two years after the system launched.

There 's been a update for ages now.

360 can both scale to 1080p or render @1080p

But IF the scaler chip inside 360 has the same limits that the scaler in the original xbox did then you will never see 360 actually render at 1080p.

The scaler in the original xbox could not accept INPUT resolusion higher then 1024x768, meening that if Halo 1 was rendered at say 720p it would be a wastse because the video scaler chip couldnt accept the signal because it was above its limmit. As i said i remember hearing something along the same lines for 360. Im trying to find a link for it now.

i believes theres a tennis game on the xb360 that renders at 1920x1080p, but true in percentage im sure <1% of games are rendering at 1920x1080p, for some of the xbox live games theres no excuse why theyre not 1920x1080p as theyre not taxing.

its not much better on the ps3 side, theres a few games advertised as 1080p (but they render at a lower res than 1920x1080p)

almighty, reread the thread as there is information in here about 1080p games if you are so inclined. As others have noted, you are incorrect. The 360 can output true 1080p resolutions. NBA Street Vol. 2 and Virtua Tennis both are 1920x1080 as well as have MSAA applied.

How many people have read the thread and looked at the actual resolutions?
