These days you don't really feel privileged as a registered developer, you only get it like a day or two before everyone else

Is there any sign of XP drivers? I'm about to use the 6052's in the Radeon 8500 review part 2, but if there are newer ones about...

First impressions:

Now PowerDVD works with hardware acceleration. AvP2 still has corrupted metal textures. Ghost Recon now is playable - no more flashing textures.

There are some people at Rage3d that have them, and it's expected they will be "leaked" in a day or two....

Just curious...aside from benchmarks using new drivers, what else is going into "Part 2?"

Under the 6052's I was getting lots of flashing textures in Tribes2 so I reverted back to the 6043's. I'm looking forward to downloading the 6058's when they are finally leaked.

The 6058s are markedly faster although the default LOD seems a bit lower (less detail) than in 6052 - could be my imagination. Picked up 300 3dmk1s and Q3 games are a bit faster too. My 4X FSAA (perf) benches are also faster. I'd wait for 6058 over 6052 right now.

Just FYI...

The XP 6058 drivers will be "leaked" on Friday. I know...it seems odd that drivers are scheduled to be leaked....but it's been done that way in the past.

I'm sure Rage3D will have links to the drivers once the emerge.

Only tested a few games. I had the older 6037 drivers. I still had the "High Poly Bug"/texture issue. For SS:SE, 1024x768 using quality setting the cathedral demo gave me 48.1 fps on a 1800+ XP. With these I got 88.5 fps. Ran it a few times with each run almost the same. 3dmarks when up about 300 points. Did not see any change for good or bad in UT (running it in OpenGL) mode. Did not bench CS but it always seems to run smooth. So far I like em.
