Interview and footage. 35,000 lines of AI dialogue for various situations... I wonder if they mean communication in regards to audio or situational awareness?

Edit: I guess you need to now use the main link. The new Halo stuff is the two new features on the bottom left. http://gameinvasion.comcast.net/game...halo_3/profile

What's the point of all that dialogue if they're not going to say it all that often? I recall them saying just after E3 that what the press saw behind closed doors was going to be dialed back in terms of characters yelling things out randomly.

It worked the same way in previous games.

Every playthrough you'll be hearing other stuff. It's great...

They'll still be pretty vocal, going by the previous games. What was happening at E3, iirc, was that all the AI were triggering dialogue on every single possible trigger point - every possible thing that they could respond to, they were, whereas in the final game various different things will have different probabilities of triggering dialogue.

Except in my experience, I remember them saying the same stuff over and over and it was hard to trigger different lines or they'd only say new things after saying the "stock" things that are repeated more often.

Ah... well.... I suppose it's preference, but I'd like the marines to follow-up on their ranting rather than just making one-liners. But if they're just saying everything all at once, it would be silly, for sure.

edit: man... marty should ditch the hair-do.

Coupon code NEWMEM5F for another $5 off. My total was ~$46 shipped. I have no idea how fast they'll get it to me, but I don't mind waiting a couple days if I have to.

The review talk begins
http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=133388

Quote:
The Microsoft sponsored reviews will be held in both New York and at Bungie headquarters in Kirkland Washington from September 9-13 during 24 hour continuous gaming sessions. Due to heightened interest, attendance will be limited to one reviewer per outlet says Microsoft.
Quote:
Reviews will be withheld from publish until Sept. 23, 12:00 PM PST at the earliest.

Halo 3 has been sent to manufacturing, it's broken preorder records, and will release to much fanfare in fewer than 18 days on Xbox 360 (Sept. 25).

Wow, sounds like MS doesn’t want any (if any) negative comments/feedback revolving around H3 pending launch.

They did the same with Gears of War. You can't say the overall reception from reviewers and gamers was negative, though.

Hence, the “if any” comment that I used.

Actually, a 2-day lead on reviews for big games is common. My understanding was that it has less to do with trying to prevent negative opinions from getting out as it does that reviews coming out generate a lot of hype. A game that gets a 9.5 review 2 weeks before launch will end up with less hype than a game that gets a 9.5 review the day before launch.

When developers want to prevent opinion on a game that may flop from getting out, they don't allow reviews to come out until release day. A recent, imfamous example of this was Spiderman 3.

Thanks Acert! That was a great read. I'm a regular subscriber to the magazine. So hearing that they get the first review is awesome!!

Well considering subscribers get the magazine before the newsstands by weeks sometimes, I'm pretty sure the OXM review will get posted way before the game ships. I'll post about it here once I get mine, which should be any day now. Just remember folks, NO SCANS ARE ALLOWED!!

I saw it as a positive that they were allowing reviews to come out 2 days ahead of time :shurgs:

Ha, I just saw an ad for Walmart that stated that they will have dedicated checkout lanes for Halo 3 on the 25th.

I've never been in any midnight launch for any item, but I have a question: how long are they usually open and do they close again after everyone outside who pre-ordered got their game?

I work graveyard shift, and I go to break during midnight, though the drive from GameStop and back to my work will be 25 mins and I only have 15 mins break so its not happening.

I was thinking of going during "lunchtime" which is about 2:00am though I dunno how long a store opens during a midnight launch.

Anywho, ill spare the rest of the life story and just want to ask how long are stores open during midnight launches

Chances are you probably won't be able to get it until the morning

I'll give you an idea how my Halo 2 midnight launch went. I went to a GameStop and got in line about 6pm. I was 2nd or 3rd in line. I was told that we were only allowed to purchase the game and related accessories. They actually had sheets or plastic covering everything else in the store. They also said they would only be opened long enough to get everybody their game(if they had enough to go around). I doubt many stores will be opened at 2am, but you got nothing to loose.

I don't know if this was answered yet but you could pre-order it at 7-11 and tell them that you work a graveyard shift so could they please hold it until 2:00 A.M. because they're open 24/7. you can only get the normal edition at 7-11 though.
