Capcom announced that Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is released for PC. Lost Planet can be purchased at retail stores and via Valve's Steam, and the suggested price is $39.99.
As the Page Ranking states, the PC version features enhanced graphics and effects, including better shadows and more detailed textures, and of course higher resolutions. Lost Planet for PC runs under Windows XP (DirectX 9) and Windows Vista (DirectX 9 and DirectX 10). The DirectX 10 version utilizes the advanced features like Shader model 4.0 and Geometry Shader. This game also has a Games for Windows branding. It is also a TWIMTBP title, so it should be more "playable" on Nvidia graphics cards. News Source: Fudzilla

Is it one of those where you can buy the box, and attach it to Steam regardless, so you have the possibility of downloading it/updating it through their network later on?

Third person shooter in an environment Mr. Freeze would approve, more or less. You fight bugs, either on-foot or in mechs that are left lying around. Weapon carrying is similar to Halo.

Nice looking game and runs really well on a 8800GTS (of course). Some of the DX10 effects really add to the environment. Doubt I will play the whole way through since I'm not really a fan of console ports. The movement and mouse control actually feels like your using a Xbox controller in the way it reacts, which to me is not a good thing.

Like any PC gamer ever would use a pad in a shooter

IIRC, Lost Planet needs SM3.0.

Yep, and that would be why I can't stand stream! Bad enough that the game takes 30mins to install. But that stupid dumb platfomr won't even let me play it until I've downloaded all the latest patches.
So now i've got to wait another f*cking hour! Great, if i'm lucky, I might even still want to play it an hour and 45mins after I decided to! I guess I'll play a few rounds of Legacy to pass the time.

Well it ended up taking me more like 2 hours because Steam decided to screw itself up. Nevertheless its up and running now and it plays great. Its like the old megadrive games - over the top blasters. Except its in the 3D. The writing is jusy as bad though. Serously, its terrible!
Still the graphics and action make up for it. Plus, its not a game that takes itself too seriously anyway so its no big deal. The other game i'm playing is Bioshock. Th estory elements couldn't be further apart!! Graphically, they are about even. In terms of pure graphical goodness, LP takes the edge. But Bioshock has the clear edge when it comes to art.
