Default Tomb Raider Anniversary Demo available

I downloaded it from Clubic ( http://www.clubic.com/demo-jeux-vide...niversary.html ), but it should be available elsewhere. Great looking, and seems to run pretty well.

agreed, looks very good for such a small demo size, was actually surprised considering how grainy some of the videos looked. Doing 8xQ max settings with no issue at all. Definetly controls a lot smoother than NextGen Legends on the X1800 which had a slight control delay.

Does seem to be a couple bugs with depth of field though where it switches on and off randomly and sometimes blurs the entire scene.

Nice. That's more along the lines of what I was hopping Legends was going to be when I bought it to scratch my Prince of Persia gameplay itch.

This is meant to be a remake of Tomb Raider 1 right? Is the demos heavy bias towards exploration/puzzles with lots of nooks and crannies and without all the 'cinematics' and lots of combat interrupting every 5 seconds the same for the rest of the game?

Bats, tigers, and gorillas; welcome to the good old days.

Exceptionally well made remake too, me loves.

EDITED BITS: Oh yeah, some velociraptors and a tyrannosaurus rex too...

Seconded. Runs like a dream, too... I mean, consistent triple digit frame rates with a 6800GS? Colour me impressed.

I've obviously got Vsync turned on, but this loaned 8800 GTS sees the game peg out at a solid 60fps until I look at the waterfall at the demo's opening, at which point it dips down to 30fps and stays there.

Tripple buffering is off, Nvidia CP tripple buffering setting is only for OpenGL. Use D3Doverrider that follows with RivaTuner to force tripple buffering for D3D games and get fps inbetween 30 and 60 instead of 20/30/60fps locked fps!

I absolutely adored the original Tomb Raider. It was pure genius, and not just because it was the first big 3d game. It really did instill a sense of adventure like no other game since has done for me.

I have had a brief go of this game and it seems to stick with the same formula, not to mention the music which is a HUGE nostalga kick! I will have to give it a more thorough going over tommorow but so far so good!

Runs great is an understatement! A solid 75 fps (with vsync) on my GTS at 1280x1024 with max details, 16xQ AA and 16x AF. Not one single drop!

Then again, its not exactly a graphical powerhouse. definatly not Legends quality. But thats not what this game is about..... original TR > TR Legends any day of the week!!

Both looked and ran good on my puny setup, with simple fun gameplay. Might just have to buy this as my first TR game in ages. My only nitpick with it is that the checkpoints-based system often makes it better to commit suicide than to backtrack if you miss a jump.

Really not liking their "Depth of Field" implementation since its more like 'set game to blur'. As i said, looks better then the early vids made it out to be, but i still wish they'd of included the nextgen option.

I look forward to it.

Makes me a little baffled by Legends though if this is what TR1 was all about. Why become all loud and action-y and hollywood when the original games hook was exploration/adventure.

I just reached gaming nirvana, having replayed the demo on my HDTV projector with the 360 pad. Sadly, the collector edition which I had preordered has apparently been pushed back a little, so I'll have to wait for the whole stuff.

i received this over the weekend. installed and played for just under 5 hours sunday (18% complete according to save game stats).

This is a great game! Right amount of puzzle difficulty and cleverness for me anyway. (hated the T rex fight!...)...combat i mostly ignore in this game, but the puzzlage is very tasty.

interesting i didn't finish "Legends"....(i think i quit right around the time i got killed in a cutscene...which happened in this game as well! till i figured it out that it wasn't entirely a curscene).

Now i wonder if this game (a rumored classic) is more interesting to me due to it being in the same quality category as deus ex, halflife1&2,GTA, Max Payne, NOLF, Postal2 (some of my alltime faves), or because of some mood issue with me while playing them. i think i'll revisit legends and see if the mechanics/gameplay (other than combat) are just as outstanding.

I finished it last week. With the exception of about 3-4 parts where there were some bugs causing me to repeat sections over and over for about 15 minutes (i was cursing their internal QA people), the game itself was very decent. I wasnt too big on the wall running thing as the control responce seemed a bit flakey. You will be cursing in a couple levels trust me, especially the last one. What a doozy. If it wasnt for the save function i think i would of smashed something had i been required to complete it over and over. I dont want to spoil it by going in depth, but anyone playing it will know exactly what im talking about when they come to it.

Personally though i think i prefer the more dramatic TR plots. Also would of helped to have the NextGen option in it. Its essentially the same engine so not having it seemed somewhat lazy in my opinion. In the end it was worth $30.

Recorded playtime was just over 10 hours for me on Hard not including deaths/retrys, so problably was a solid 12 hours of gameplay.

What collector's edition?

Edit: Ah, I see it's a UK thing.
