Anybody know why they went with Unreal? Was that the original plan? I remember them saying they were suppose to have an advance lighting system that could not be done of the ps3 is that still valid?

Dont say so!
Been a long time since the last good Splinter Cell game (Chaos Theory).

And actually, the devs said they had an advance AI system that they couldn't have done on the PS3, not lighting. As to whether it's still valid now? Who knows. But since that was said, it looks like they've gone back to the drawing board with the game anyway, on top of which Sony have improved their dev tools significantly. |

How nice it looks. At 2:13, the stroll along the city street!
![]() Also at 2:43, is that market realtime as it seems to have OB motionblur.

The game looks way to simple, at least as far as holding your hand goes, but the casual crowd is so important these days

Nothing's stopping you from playing purely stealth.

To be fair, even the older SC games weren't pure stealth, there were spots late in that you have to fight your way through enemies who know where you are. Those parts generally sucked.

It is good that the supposed super-spy has gotten some skills when it comes to fighting, but I still want the stealth to be there, to pass enemies unnoticed...I really don't want this game to be like, be in the dark, mark and execute, proceed |

So it seems confirmed that as a Splinter Cell game, this entry will completely and utterly fail.
Another victim of casualization |

Framerate looks horrible in the latest vids. Hopefully a borked capture, but the tearing is still evident.

That is why I could enjoy MSG4 for instance...it was not hard core at all. If the devs are smart, there is always the possibility to introduce a 'hard' difficulty mode for the ultimate stealth ninjas out there...(I think MGS4 had this as well)

Yeah, the problem is that they didn't add options. In this game you HAVE to kill the enemies to get past them, there's not even a knock out option. The developers basically removed stealth and replaced it with action : /

Still not sure about this game. The last one just totally burnt me. Didn't even finish it & finally sold it.

Yeah not looking good, the series has been on a serious downhill trend ever since the brilliant first one.
