Btw Ivan, I'm stealing that link you posted on twitter.

Level progression is pretty slow in BC2, but I found that if you get 26,000 points in a single match you go up a lot faster

Didnt want to start a thread about it and here seems a general purpose gaming thread as anywhere, but this made me smile

Thats the problem with these games requiring a log in
everything is fine when you have the login automatically or remember my usename/password box checked
but if you need to format and resinstall windows its a whole lot of messing about especially as for proper safety you need every game to be registered to a differnt account

Proper safety? Lol wut.

It's a game. What safety issues could there possibly be?

Imagine you have 50 games on steam, and for some reason valve think youve cheated on tf2 and ban you
youve then lost 50 games.

Pretty sure they can't or won't deny you access to 50 games because of alledged cheating in just one.

In any case it's completely unreasonable and unmanageable to keep 50 steam accounts for 50 games.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Dead Island

GTA IV

All fantastic games, Deus Ex and GTA IV especially.

I think Deus Ex may be the best game I have played this year.

I have yet to play The Witcher 2 but I expect great things from that game.

@ grall i think it happened with people cheating in some single player blizzard game (starcraft ?)
their account was banned so they lost every game they had on there

which is a good reason to avoid steam if at all possible
I only have the orange box and saints row 2 on steam but I do have cracks for sr2 and hl2 so they hopefully will be playable if there are ever any problems with steam (havnt tested them)

It's the same argument I've been hearing ever since steam started and I can't find one person in my surroundings that ever had his steam account blocked because "he didn't cheat"

I just gave steam as an example, there will be many of these services in future it may not of happened on steam but it has happened on battlenet
and have you heard of someone having a steam account banned because they did cheat ?
should they lose all their games because of that even single player ? some people exploit glitches without even knowing its a glitch - rocket jumping was originally a glitch

It looks like Valve's policy has been to ban players from playing on specific servers, not ban them altogether.

There's 2 levels of ban. One is server specific, the other is engine specific. The second type means that if you get banned from C:SS then you lose TF2, HL2 etc. It won't mean that you lose access to all UE3 games, though probably if you have a VAC ban for an expansion to a specific UE3 game you will lose access to the vanilla.

Anyway, enough of that boring shit. WHO IS PLAYING BF3? and TELL US EVERYTHING!

Engine specific? That's a weird way to do it. So some company licenses Source for their game, you get banned in it, you can't play Half Life 2 anymore?

Only if it uses the same core files, I believe. i.e. not copies, but uses things from the source folder, or whatever it's called.

For one I would prefer Steam to ban whole account if someone is cheating on regular basis.
I play quite a bit of Crysis 2 and of course Crytek is a bunch of monkeys who can't write good MP code. There is loads of cheaters, some of them use obvious auto-aim or speed-hacks others just top up they suit abilities.
I have no regard for such people and if decision would be mine I ban them from every game they play online.
