Crytek's Lead Graphics Programmer Martin Mittring gave a overview of CryENGINE 2 at the Crytek Spring '07 Summit which was held on March 28-29th.
http://incrysis.com/crysis/index.php...d=312&Itemid=2 (15m 38s, 230MB) Crytek also showed several CE2 demo videos (+ one real-time sound system demo) for the Summit visitors (soon to be released as direct feed versions): http://incrysis.com/crysis/index.php...d=309&Itemid=2 http://incrysis.com/crysis/index.php...d=310&Itemid=2 http://www4.incrysis.com/summit/vid1.avi (facial animation, XviD) Some additional images of CE2 presentations were also snapped: http://www2.incrysis.com/~mattd/imag...-tank_edit.jpg http://www2.incrysis.com/~mattd/imag...nside_edit.jpg http://www2.incrysis.com/~mattd/imag...-maps_edit.jpg http://www2.incrysis.com/~mattd/imag...ounds_edit.jpg http://www2.incrysis.com/~mattd/imag...nshot_edit.jpg http://www2.incrysis.com/~mattd/imag...w-map_edit.jpg http://www.incrysis.net/Summit/ArtPi...SV103195_e.jpg http://www.incrysis.net/Summit/ArtPi...SV103196_e.jpg http://www.incrysis.net/Summit/ArtPi...SV103197_e.jpg http://www.incrysis.net/Summit/ArtPi...SV103199_e.jpg http://www.incrysis.net/Summit/ArtPi...SV103201_e.jpg http://www.incrysis.net/Summit/ArtPi...SV103202_e.jpg http://www.incrysis.net/Summit/ArtPi...SV103203_e.jpg http://www.incrysis.net/Summit/ArtPi...SV103205_e.jpg http://www.incrysis.net/Summit/ArtPi...SV103206_e.jpg http://crysis.4thdimension.info/modu...nails&album=25 Art Pipeline presentation by Art Production Manager Michael Endres. Duration is 27 minutes. http://incrysis.com/crysis/index.php...d=316&Itemid=2 (I'll also throw in the GDC editor demos, because they kind of fit the theme of this topic) Sandbox 2, the real-time world editor, had its first public presentation at the recently held Game Developers Conference. There's two lenghty videos of it and the first one is from GameTrailers which shows various features of the editor and CryENGINE 2. Part 1 - Outdoor stuff View distance, LOD system, clouds, time-of-day lighting, shadows, destructible environments, forests/vegetation system, terrain sculpting/editing and the voxel terrain system. 1280x720: http://www.gametrailers.com/download...57&type=wmv&f= 480x270: http://www.gametrailers.com/download...43&type=wmv&f= Part 2 - Outdoor + indoor Road tools, buildings and elements/blocks system, more LOD, indoor elements editing and networking, indoor lighting, water surface/underwater effects, waves, game logic, entities and track view tools (camera). 1280x720: http://www.gametrailers.com/download...62&type=wmv&f= 480x270: http://www.gametrailers.com/download...63&type=wmv&f= The second SB2 video is from GameVideos, again showing various features. Just thought I'd comment on your hosting provider -- damn fast! One of the few times I've been able to hit the full 10mbit of my advertised download speed, other than when I download stuff from Microsoft...

Interesting stuff, thanks for the links!
Seems they've renamed "ambient occlusion" and "bent normal", unless I'm misunderstanding what they're doing with that. Variance shadow maps for terrain eh... that's pretty smart: low depth complexity so unlikely to get light bleeding |
