Ghost Recon is my favourite. I've only played it on LAN though, so I don't know how good it handles higer latencies than what a gig-lan gives you.

In the beginning there was always Doom/Heretic/Hexen. The Serious-Sam series is a blast on a local lan. Even after all this time, I'm still partial to Diablo I/II and Starcraft. Most of my friends are partial to WarCraft 3.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

The group that I play with have played Diablo 1 and 2, NWN, starcraft and WCIII and Serious Same to death.

I played Ghost recon on a 10mb lan, it was lots of fun, but that's due to the fact that we were all there and talking to each other me thinks. I guess voice comm would help.

Anything else?

PS. I did SS2 cooperatively as well, until DX9 screwed up the multiplayer.

Icewind Dale was fun over a LAN, but the network code wasn't impressive even at that speed, so I have doubts about it's internet abilities. I think System Shock 2 had co-op patched into it, but I haven't tried it. Would be an excellent game for it, though.

I'm trying to pitch darkstone too the group as well, but the graphics, sound and game play seem rather dated in that game.

Darkstone was a fun game for co-op multiplayer in it's time. The graphics may seem a bit dated, but just crank the resolution and up the quality settings in the control panel.

How does one crank the resolution? There is no setting for that in game.

Hrm. I thought there was a choice between two resolutions. Memory must be failing on me. If there isn't resolution choice then only option is to crank the AA/AF/MIP to maximum.

Codename : Outbreak is a good candidate for some multiplayer coop action.

I truned up AF/AA/MIP on my 8500 retail. It looks really clean now.

Funny thing is that the text more readable thanks to the AA, LoL!

Diablo/DII were awesome in co-op.

hopefully Settlers V (or Settlers 3D) whenever it's finished.

I'll have to look into the settlers series, I hear it's pretty good, but I've never had a chance to see it in action.

I heard Battlefield 1942 is a great multiplayer game.

Investigating the case, looks like it's really cool

We're spread apart, it would take many moons to get to any one person's place. Besides, we're not down with consoles.

My friends and I now mostly play Homeworld / Cataclysm, Diablo 2, Age of Mythology. But our favorite at the moment is Operation Flashpoint. A superb multi-player game, especially with 3 players all in one tank (driver, gunner, commander)!

'Back in the days', we were addicted to Starcraft. I could not even begin to count the amount of hours we played on this!

No fun unless you have a big big group. (Most of the maps are made for 30 people on a side)

Op Flash - most SP missions can be played co-operativley in MP, and a ton are available for download specifically.

BF:1942 desert combat mod, but again best online than a LAN due to the scale.

NOLF2 has a separate mini-campaign for cooperative play.
