Perhaps the optical systems they use can already resolve at that size (simple optical shrink from 65nm) and the materials they use are still useful?

No, it means that the chipset is mostly the same as MCP73, but the graphics core is based on G80 instead of G70. Both are different chips and products, obviously. Now, to know whether MCP73 and MCP67 have 2 or 4 pipelines, hmm...
