Default Why cant Crysis be done on next gen?

And since I say clearly it cant, didn't the engineers fail to some degree?

Give me a next gen box that plays THIS and I'll pay $499 for it and not blink. I dont understand why companies dont understand that simple idea.

And sure, PS3 is those prices, but you're really paying for a $300 box+Blu-Ray and a hard drive. I'd rather pay $499 for a machine with the guts that can do the above.

I have little doubt both consoles are capable of that. Developers just need some more time to familiarize with the hardware, whereas for the purpose of that demo Crytek could take a total brute-force approach.

I do! We've seen some impressive next gen stuff now..Gears, Heavenly Sword, Rainbow 6, Brothers in Arms, and imo none come close to the graphical fidelity and clarity of Crysis.

But I imagine Crysis will get ported, so we'll find out I guess. Still, those screens are truly a "wow" level above anything I have seen on X360 or PS3.

Also Crysis was running on a X1900XTX I think? I bet after they polish it it will run on a single X1900XTX.

I dont get what your saying. Because crysis is only pc at the moment it means next gen consoles cant do it? I think it's a matter of developers creating engines like that rather than hardware. Crysis is coming to next gen consoles, so I dont see your point.

Give next-gen some time. After seeing 1st gen PS2 games I never thought games like MGS3 and God of War would have been possible. So I guess you will be paying some money to buy a PS3 after this gets ported.

When you compare GOW2 and other later titles to what was appearing first on PS2, you wouldn't know it was the same machine. Judging a console's capabilities solely on early titles is pretty short-sighted. We're hearing plenty of noise from devs about how things are going to get much better, and it's not as though early titles have been real dogs either. It's more a matter of wait and see how the engine ports, plus keep your fingers cross they do a good job of porting the engine and the CryTek people are smart enough to get their heads around the very-different-to-PC console architectures.

Well I can view screens and media. Crysis is easily more impressive than anything I have seen to date on next gen consoles.

I dont understand what's so hard to understand about that. Crysis is generally acclaimed for it's graphics. How many games are in development that we have seen media for on Ps3 and X360? 200? And of those, I've not seen one that approaches Crysis. Therefore, I do not believe it can be done on those screens.

I'm sure it WILL be ported, but I also am sure there will be cutbacks of various sorts..

Haze looks to be in the same style now on the next-gen consoles..but when you look at Haze screens they are well below the qaulity of Crysis screens.

you really should try being a bit more optimistic and patient.

the PC engine was JUST recently shown for the 1st time. Wait about two years and you will see what you're looking for.

This looks pretty good.

Ram.

512megs just isn't enough to hold that much texture detail. Thats just my opinion. I think had the 360 and ps3 shipped with 1gig they could do it.

How many tried to do the same?

There is just a few ss on the net from this game but from what I saw the level design looks very diferent.

Anyway you must think that this must run very well on a 7800 256Mgs + P4D or almost none will be able to play this game and both consoles surpasse this.
