Default Oblivion mod problem

Just reinstalled Oblivion and d/l the LOD mods for normal maps and textures for the landscape. Extracted them to the "C:\Games\oblivion\data\textures\landscapelod\gene rated" folder yet when I load the game I still get the hideous OOTB default landscape. If memory serves, this is exactly what I did with these mods the first time I played the game, so I'm confused as to what I'm doing wrong this time.

It's not patched. It's a clean reinstall of the game.

Are you not selecting something? First window that you click "Play" in has the "Data Files" just below it. Click that and make sure you have what you want selected.

Did you put the paths in the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file so that the new textures override the old?

Or, try Timeslips Mod Manager, it has a new way to force non-standard textures that is better and more reliable than utilizing the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file.

Plus, it's a great product for managing a tone of mods.

Make sure the modified assets have a file date newer than the default game assets.

It doesn't need to be, just add the new files to your ArchiveInvalidation.txt. Asking the obvious, but are you sure you have the files in the correct folder(s)?

They don't have to be newer, same thing with using ArchiveInvalidation, you don't need to have that file if your modified assets are newer. Two different ways to do the same thing.
