Disappointed I guess :/

I don't know...expectations were high, those rumours made them higher (even though I knew so many titles of THAT caliber was ridiculously optimistic), and the result is...oh...cool...why did you have a meeting about that again? Pointless.

Tri-Ace RPG FTW though. Their battle systems = the best. XBLA was expected but ya know, anyway.

I guess X360 got its S-E exclusive...heh...

Aye, those rumors were absolutely ridiculous. The only thing holding them up was pure unfettered desperate hope...

I'm not sure if and S-E published game counts though. There could still be a game dev'ed by S-E in the works, ala that E3 trailer.

I heard someone say that the Tri-ace game will be an Action RPG, but that might have just been forum banter.

So, much ado about a single Tri-Ace RPG?? Nice, but nothing earth shattering. Of course, if LO and BD end up being awesome, I may consider getting a X360 when it´s cheap.

ign - Future Namco Bandai Projects include the Xbox 360 exclusive Zegapain, a game based on an anime show that just started airing. The game will be accompanied by a special comic and Xbox Live battles. Later today , a trailer will be available to view on Xbox Live. So by the time you read this, check online and it should be available. Also shown was a slip of a yet unnamed Gundam game which will support play online. The clip showed gameplay of a style that resembled Zone of the Enders in its style.
couple other games there

Well, they could always do something like FF: CC on GCN, though, that was partially funded by the Q-Trust, if I remember correctly

Oh, no, I was just thinking that since GameArts went up with SE and Silpheed is more a GameArts property than an SE there might be another in the works (assuming that's what sylph turns out to be).

I am glad MS didn't waste any money for the 1,000 a week sales they get in Japan, to be honest. I feel they should de-emphasize Japan anyway.

Although cool games woulda been nice, as it's not my money I guess, and MS has bottomless pockets.

Microsoft needs to know how many sales the Mystwalker RPG can sell before making a contract with Square-Enix.

They cannot go and make a Square-Enix agreement because it coul piss off Mystwalker efforts for helping Microsoft.

I'm still just surprised that there are new Japanese games to announce for the 360. Having practically anything seems like a win for MS.

Makes me curious what is being withheld for E3.

Well, there was 40% increase of X360 sales last week, from 1k to 1400. (Yeah I know).

And a 360 title charted at #17 in media create this week, which I think is unusual.

That combined with what I thought were these big game announcments (that turned out not big, of course) had me thinking maybe MS was actually making tiny headway in Japan. Which would have shocked me. I know they're never going to be sales leaders, but I was thinking they might do something.

That is, before this press conference fizzled..

SE is publishing it? I guess, but I was under the impression that there was an internal game... as per the E3 vid. Probably more forum noise.

PSU and Tales of ..., or so almost everyone in the know seems to say and we KNOW a Namco RPG is in the works... unless it's... like... a gundam RPG it'll be a tales of ... RPG.

If you mean PSU I sayd that's a pretty sure bet, the VF and AB announcements are jokes though. Those are 2 of the few games that still earn a mint in the arcades and SEGA isn't about to kill that income by announcing console ports so soon. Maybe, in 2 years or something, least that's my thinking.

Boobies for the win.

Looks like a port. I don't like it.

That last pic even has the (Y) button icon from the very first Xbox controller... What's up with that?

Those must be off an impossibly early build. I'm inclined to say "this from the same machine that does GR:AW?".

The PS meeting Gundam was a lot crisper despite it's relative infancy.

I'm not sure just having 'Japanese games' is enough. I've read that the Japanese are really really brand loyal. They don't want Japanese RPGs, they want Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, that sort of thing.

Of course, but how do you suppose MS can "get there"?
If MS want DQ and FF on their system, would they have more success in going straight to Square Enix and ask them to make DQ and FF for X360, or would they be in a better position if they first had a lot of japanese titles on the system, before trying to get Square Enix to make games for them?
I know what i would do... MS need to build a solid portfolio of japanese games, especially RPGs, which will have to sell well in Japan, then start to lure Square Enix (and others, i'm only mentioning SE cause it's quicker than mentioning all other Japanese companies), showing them that a possible DQ and FF game would sell a lot on their system because japanese gamers are already playing games on it.
At the moment, MS is inexistant in Japan, for the second generation in a row, and even before Sony comes out with the PS3, and for Square Enix that's too much of a risk. And before someone mentions it, it's not the same as when they switched from Nintendo to Sony, it's totally different.
When MS can prove to SE and others that they are selling a LOT of systems in japan, that they are actually interested in japanese games and gamers, and when they can prove that japanese gamers care about MS, then maybe SE will change their stance, if that ever happens.

Well it's an MMO FPS, so IQ may suffer, though the developer Dimps has been notorious in Japan for their massively underwhelmed UniversalCentury.net GUNDAM ONLINE (UCGO) MMOG for PC.
