Default So you guys forbid registration from gmail accounts eh?

Many people use GMail as their primary email account now. I had to use one of my old spam email acocounts to reg here.

Reminded me of back in the day when forums prevented people with Hotmail accounts from signing up. At least back then we all had ISPs that gave out email addresses which we could use (unlike today where those email addresses are filled with the most incoming spam and GMail, the free net-based email account, is the most spam-free).

Funny how things change (and yet some board registrations don't).

Gmail is also used by quite a few spambots.

Often things like that are just general defaults in the VBulletin Board software that get left. I'm guessing it's probably not a conscious effort.

Any welcome, and perhaps consider your thread might be more appropriate here

registration is quite fucked up, I first made a typo on my pseudo, I cancelled (without validating the registration), started again : "this email is already in use". then I used a different adress and made a typo on the email, didn't validate either, then "this pseudo is already in use".
So here's why I'm "Blazkowicz_" and not "Blazkowicz"

(did that because your nickname is underlined when displayed so the underscore wouldn't be that noticed, at least before the last forum upgrade)

There are still two half-assed accounts from me on the server I guess

That's not fucked up, it's sensible. Even if you have only made a partial registration the email address needs to be "locked" so no-one else can use it. Otherwise what would happen if someone else comes along and registers the same email address before you have validated your own?
