Don't think so... it's the question that gets asked everywhere with the answer "no". Seems like they hard coded it in, which is quite unfortunate.

Diablo 2 looks really bad at first, but you stop noticing it, and eventually it looks really good. Right about the time the game eats your eternal soul...again.

It's pre-rendered 2D. So, no.

Stuff like that tends to happen with 2d sprite games...

Configure it and you should be playing 1280x1024 any time you want. Why you'd want to do that I have no idea. Diablo 2 is pixelated as hell. Unless you are able to attain a 3dfx video card capable of real Glide then I suggest you play at 800x600 or 640x480 because D3D mode under D2 looks as though I'm playing a game at 320x240 on a CRT.

Well it's not really pixelated. It's just low resolution artwork. It's not like its point sampling everything. D3D is the blurriest mode. Glide thru that wrapper looks a little better. I actually have had good luck with the wrapper. Have not tried higher resolutions tho.

I wouldn't mind if the higher resolution meant just a larger viewing angle of the world, in which case, the objects would only be smaller.

Higher res than 800*600 means already small objects and details become terribly small, and lost in the general clutter. And the game will slow down to a spectacular degree when the screen gets really busy. Think necromancers with full menageries, sorceresses casting meteor upon meteor, rapid-firing amazons spamming 30-level multishots, etc...
It's already very bad at 800, it can easily collapse down to 10fps even on an otherwise decked-out PC.
