Yes, I know who cares, but I need to vent. After a long night of driving, standing, freezing, and making about 500 phone calls I dont have an Xbox 360.
I dont understand why they are supposedly launching 200,000 units in Japan. I can assuredly tell you if they were here in the states every one of them would have sold last night. Everywhere I went was pure insanity with about 3X as many people wanting 360s compared to the stock that was available. I understand supporting Europe since they actually buy Xbox stuff, but the Japan issue infuriates me. You know for a fact they will be lucky to sell 50,000 by the end of the year there and the rest will be getting dusty on shelves. Anyway I return home at about 8:45 this morning having lost a ticket draw at Wal-Mart as a last ditch effort and whats on my TV? A bunch of celebrities walking out of an Xbox party with what looked like 2 free 360s per person. They were being interviewed and rich yuppies like Paris Hilton were so out of touch with gaming when asked what she was waiting to play she froze up and stuttered "that one shooting game". Here I am dying to get one and willing to pay and that spoiled nit-wit has one before me at no cost. I am sure at this party they gave away maybe 250 max, but so what. Finally lots of people are speculating this is all a marketing ploy, you know the shortages. Well it worked since it has been all over the news. However if indeed it was just a big scam and 360s start rolling in daily its going to be hard to forgive them after the night I went through. So now I have 3 games, 2 Faceplates, 1 Memory Card, and no system to use them with. Yes I do have a pre-order from June at Gamestop, but they arent promising anything since I am #62 on a list that exceeds 200. What a crappy night |

I agree with you, they shoud have held off launching in japan and used those units for north ameirca. I just picked up mine (and I'm liking it a lot so far, downloadable demos rule.) but if I didn't get mine today I woulda been really pissed off.

Sorry to hear. I know I ended up lucky with a PS2 around 5 years ago, but I would have been very disappointed if I hadn't got one that night. Perhaps better than ending up with a system that doesn't work, so good things still lay ahead.

Thanks for the kind words.
I have been waiting for the 360 for so long and now not to have one really hurts. Having games and accessories sitting here in front of me isnt helping either. Sure Ill eventually get one, but it was so perfect. I am off work today all the way through Monday and I was ready to watch Football, play my 360, and eat Turkey. Now my little plan has been thwarted. Oh well, life goes on. |

Sorry to hear your strife.
I too think it was a mistake for a worldwide launch. To think there are 360s in europe and japan just sitting there while a LOT of 360 customers have to play the waiting game here in NA. And I hardly think Japan will get the same reponse as it did here. I dont know what the situation was like here in Ottawa, will have to read the news. But it didn't seem to make front page. Have you tried any of the online retailers? Even the Canadian ones? good luck. |

I deployed a team of friends of mine, clustered around a group of stores: Target, Circuit City, and Walmart. We each stood in line and agreed to let others cut in. Target had only 14 units. My friend was #16. Circuit City had 12 units. My other friend was #15. And I was at Walmart -- suffice to it to say I didn't bring one home. Extremely irritated doesn't begin to cut it. I could have used the extra sleep. |

master-mold, demo coder, sorry to hear that.. You should be really frustrated by now..
Just a note: The target I went this morning has 14 systems despite they stated that they would have 30 for the launch.. I joined the line at 7:00am in the morning and was actually 11th in the line.. However, then they told us that only 2 of the systems are premiums and rest are core systems. So, I decided to skip... However, the guy also stated that they are going to have another shipment tonight and will have some extra systems tomorrow. So, you can still try tomorrow morning and may find one before thanksgiving.

I just drove around this morning looking for any place that may have one. Wal-Mart was sold out at Midnight, and every other store opening at 8 had lines too long to possible get one. I drove by Target, and it looked like they were letting employees in first before they even opened to get the ones they had. I saw a few people walk out with one before they even opened at 8 am. There was even a guy standing outside like he was security or something. Not to mention most of the stores probably only had the cores. Oh well, guess I will just have to wait for the PS3
#1Gamer I have been trying to figure out if this really is a free magazine, or if it is just a scam. Everytime I post anything about it, they get removed. I think its al just a big conspiracy. |

I hit the local Best Buy at 10:00pm and got my $399 system this morning. We knew how many they had and we (the morons waiting all night in the cold and rain) gave out tickets with numbers to everyone in line to keep some order of who was there and who wasn't.
They had 38 premium systems and I was #35 in line. So I was lucky! Tom Crews |

I went to Sams Club at 5am expecting to get a leg up because of my business membership which allows you to enter the store at 7am instead of 10am. They let everyone in though. (So much for paying extra for the business membership). I was 16th in line and they had 14 consoles. I waited around anyway in case someone couldn't cover the cost.
I went home empty handed. Oh well saves me a bit of money because I was planning on buying an hdtv just for playing 360 and watching dvd's. I can't believe how few units this launch had. I think MS really botched this launch. They could have sold 3x as many as they will end up selling on launch day and get a huge lead in NA. Now that I know I wont be able to get near one till Jan-Feb I'm an open target for Sony to show me something in that time that will entice me to wait for a ps3. Like crazy in-game movies. Decent launch price. Better availabilty. AND most importantly early summer launch. I understand the concept of creating demand by limiting supply for free press and pschylogical marketing purposes but I think they are making a bigger mistake by not grabbing NA when they have the chance. |

Funny blaming MS' for something you're willingly putting yourself through. Personally I've never understood people that are that desperate for a gaming console. Just have patience and wait. Some people really need to find alternative hobbies, not directing this at you, thinking more of the people that camp outside stores days on end when a console launches. Those people need to get a job and a life. |

LOL I don't think so. I think they are just turning more of the planet into slobbering Xbox 360 wanters. It doesn't matter in the end if you have to wait, you will still want it. MS wins.

If MS can't keep up with demand then eventually their potential buyers will lose interest. That's what's wrong here IMO. |

It only says I have one post because they keep getting deleted. Plus i just got back on Beyond 3D forums, and I don't remember what my old name was. What makes you think I am just trying to get everyone to go to that site? #1Gamer, without a 360 |
