Default UT Linux OpenGL Renderer

Hopefully someone can help me out here (subtle hint: Humus or Vogel )

Trying to get S3TC working with UT in Linux.
Flipping S3TC on in the .ini files results in solid textures for everything but pickups and guns

This maybe a ATI driver problem (I've got a 9700 pro), but I reckon it's the same problem that the Windows UT GL had a while back. So I downloaded the source, but I can't get the damn thing to compile under Linux (RedHat 8 ).

I'm not much of a C/C++ programmer so I'm hoping that one of you two can help me out

I posted this in the UT tech support forums a while back, but as no-one answered I think Dan is currently sipping his martini's on a tropical beach somewhere
