Default PSP HDD .. 4 gig,chmm.

If there is a point on which the owners of PlayStation Portable agree well, it is on the lack of place of Memory Stick. Acknowledge that with 32 basic Mo, it is a little light to store its photographs there, vidéos and musics... It is to answer this request which the Datel accessories supplier plans to leave a hard disk 4 Gigas intended for the PSP! This hard disk would be fixed at the console of the same matter as a battery, with certainly a part to be inserted into the place of Memory Stick to connect it to the memory of the portable. A still mysterious accessory but which should however be available to the end of the month for the sum of £149.99, is 220 euros. Its exit in France is still unknown... /babel fish translation/

/me drools

That would be a wonderful item. Compared to the MS PRO DUO prices on the market the price of this items seems correct in the amount of space your getting. Considering how small re encoded vid files for the PSP are, 4GBs of space would be a large amount. The only question would be is...how fast does this thing drain the battery? also transfer speeds...but that will be answered in due time.

£149.99 for a 4GB HDD?? That's almost as much as the PSP itself!

Many times cheaper and more convenient than 4 1GB MS Pro Duos (or even 2 x 2GB), though.

I've a friend who's a work colleague popping over to Korea. He bought a 1gb MS for his PSP for £70. His colleague says you can get a 2gb MS in Korea for that, (think it's Korea. Might be Hong Kong) so when he returns I'll see if it's true. 4gb MS's are still stupidly expensive.

Also have you seen the new MS format coming out, MS micro? Stupidly small, thumbnail size, with a capacity up to 32 gb's supposedly. Give it a few years and the Cell based PSP2 with 32 GB's storage will be all the rage

Yeah, it seems like that would be the case. The battery life without that HDD is aout 3-5 Hours. So with it, I would expect a durastic decrease in battery life. Although, didn't sony release a new battery pack or something?

I like the price of it, but I would be contempt with just a 1GB MS PRO DUO. HEH, I still have my 32MB MS PRO DUO that came with the PSP. Got SNES, GENESIS, NES emulators on it...but I want to start adding music and crap.

Ainsi une nouvelle batterie officielle sera commercialisée Ã* 5.565 yens (soit environ 45€) proposant 20% d'autonomie en plus,

... mais aussi une Memory Stick d'un giga Ã* 9.975 yens (soit environ 75€).

... and a "little PSP HDD update"

http://psp.darkplanets.co.uk:81/datel-4gb-harddrive.asp

Datel announced a new 4GB PSP Hard Drive for PSP, which has four times the capacity of the 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, and it has a built-in 3600mh X2 Batter Pack, which provides twice the battery life to the PSP, at a cost less than a 2GB Pro Duo Memory Stick. The unit also comes with a Get Connected Media Cable and media software. The PSP 4GB Hard Drive will be released in Europe on October 20, for £149.99. (Source: DarkPlanet)

... FUCK sick !!!

Isn't it a great price for the accessory though? A 4Gig Microdrive AND battery?

I don't see any mention of an included battery. As far as I can see its just a 4GB HDD for around $265..

Well that's more like it, expensive but at least worth it for those who can afford it and want a HDD and decent battery life from the PSP.

I have the feeling that the battery is there to make up for the HDD. I.e. there may be some situations where the extended battery doesn't net the user more run time.

Price out a microdrive in your neck of the woods, this deal might be an awesome value. Some months ago, it wasn't unheard of to buy items built around microdrives (Rio Carbon for instance) to rip out the drive to use for another application. This is because they were more expensive to buy just the drive alone.

on ps2nfo.com an official confirmation of a DATEL representative told them
the first production units are made today the 10th and that the price !! is lower then the rumoured price (as is LOWER THEN 149£)
so you will have one bulky 3600mha batery left , and a bulky 4gb drive attachend on the right.

i hope it will get hacked so you can bigger drives inside (like they did with the 4gbyte mp3players long time ago. there was only a standart compactflash inside)
so i 'm sure they hacked the ms pro duo slot to allow other media with write read acces.
there is another company trying to make this kind of hardware also
anyway , i just sold my SONY ms pro duo 1gbte cause it was much slower then a sandisk stick. if the price is going to be intresting i' will hold off to buy another 1gbyte and pay the extra for this .

even at 100£ (whats withthe freakin pound sterling, ...grr) its still al ot of money

So the first battery from Sony is +20% from the old. Thats pretty good´, is this new battery going in the Valuepacks also? I still expect a even better battery from Sony in the near future.
