Quake Rocks Mobile Gaming id software’s seminal 3D shooter makes the leap to new 3D enabled handsets. Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 27, 2005 -- The mobile gaming world is going to shake when the legendary QUAKE hits handsets later this year. Thanks to an agreement announced today between id Software and publisher Pulse Interactive, the blockbuster first person action shooter created by id Software™ is rolling onto a new generation of 3D-enabled mobile handsets QUAKE is legendary in the videogame world. Originally created for the PC in 1996, the game set new standards with its sophisticated 3D graphics, fast, intense gameplay and innovative online multiplayer capabilities. It created millions of fans globally and made the first-person shooter game genre one of the most popular in the world. “QUAKE Mobile takes all of the action, game play, and atmosphere of the groundbreaking original and puts it right in the palm of your hands,” said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. “QUAKE pushes the envelope of today’s mobile handsets, and offers gamers a fun and addictive on-the-go entertainment experience. We’re already looking forward to the first mobile deathmatch.” Already garnering attention from critics and fans alike, QUAKE Mobile has been awarded 'Best Mobile Game' in Gamespot's E3 2005 Editor's Choice Awards, with the editors of Gamespot Mobile declaring themselves, “...shocked and awed by the quality of QUAKE Mobile.” “Forget miniature golf and puzzle games, QUAKE is going to take mobile gaming to a whole new level,” said Paul Trowe, president, Pulse Interactive., “QUAKE will not only satisfy hardcore players, but also create a whole new generation of fans around the world.” QUAKE Mobile is in development by Bare Naked Productions for a new generation of mobile phone handsets which feature dedicated 3D graphics hardware. This new advancement allows the phone to display complex 3D environments and objects, representing a huge leap forward from the current generation of cell phones. A faithful conversion of the PC original, QUAKE Mobile offers players all of the action, speed and memorable characters and combat that took the gaming world by storm in 1996. The first 3D-enabled mobile phones will hit the market this summer, with QUAKE Mobile available as an embedded game on the first of these handsets to be released by a Korean manufacturer in July. - End - Rob. |

It reads like they're converting the first Quake. That level of complexity would work on a broad range of handhelds, yet the state of the art in 3D graphics for the sector could handle a Quake III caliber engine and better.
Capcom's mobile division is also making a big release with a deluxe edition of the original Resident Evil for Samsung's Gamephones in Korea. |
