CeBIT 2005 SLI it with two different cards
" NVIDIA LIKES TO bring out the fact that it is the leader and ATI is the follower especially when it comes to using the multiple cards in one PC but we have strong reason to believe that ATI is actually adding more to the marchitecture. But yes, ATI is jumping on bandwagon and stealing some of Nvidia's thunder no question about it..... " Source: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=21749

I thot about putting it over here, but decided as it is still unnanounced and unreleased it was better suited over there. Of course, that one minute of contemplation of the matter cost me.
When I discovered this topic was here first I pointed it out over there with the thot that a mod would lock it and force people over here, but it hasn't happened. Sorry. . .

Excellent. Btw, has it been confirmed whether ATi's SLI (whatever) can be done with R4xx or is this R5xx and upwards?

The Asus motherboard is called P5RD2-MVP Deluxe... and since their nVidia SLI motherboards have SLI at the end of the productname (think A8N-SLI), I think we can safely assume that the official name is MVP. Asus P5RD2-MVP Deluxe DaveBaumann also hinted to it here a while ago: http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/viewto...=462469#462469 Edit: here's another pic and according to this site it has 2x PCIe x16: Quote:

Hmmmm the thought that my next board might have an ATI chipset is kinda strange. It's like stepping out into the great unknown! I'm psyched about all the forum showdowns that will go down when MVP or AMR or whatever hits the market

It down tunes to the slower card though i.e X800 + X850 = 2x X800 or something like that. US

Hey I was just thinking about this, if nv and Ati get good implementations eventually would it possibly force the high end down from its current ludicrous highs? Like perhaps back to lauchning at $400?

"We don't have a clue as to what an 'architecture' actually is or refers to. Using the word 'marchitecture' allows us to appear to understand the concept without actually having to ever explain it to anybody. If we had to explain it we couldn't, and so we say "marchitecture" so that we'll never be put in the position of having to reveal that we haven't the foggiest as to what an 'architecture' is." It really is very silly when you think about it as it implies that gpu architectures are in reality nothing but marketing gimmicks akin to PR advertising campaigns... (If that was the case then nVidia's entire nV3x PR program could have been the inverse of what it was... There is a narrow sense in which I agree with the Inq's choice of words, though--and that is that when nVidia advertises nV30/5/8 as "8-pixels-per-clock" that is *definitely* a "marchitecture" if I've ever seen one... |
