Default WinXP - multimonitor metrics

I have two identical monitors set at 1600x1200 (= 3200x1200). I call GetSystemMetrics() to find the size of the screen. These are the results I get:

SM_CXSCREEN == 1600
SM_CYSCREEN == 1200
SM_CXVIRTUALSCREEN == 3200
SM_CYVIRTUALSCREEN == 1240

Why isn't SM_CYVIRTUALSCREEN == 1200?

EDIT: I've noticed that if I drag a window so that it lies across the join in the screens, it appears higher on the right one than the left, so that if I drag it to the top of the left screen, the the part on the right goes partially off the top. A driver problem? I'm using an NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400.

I'm using MS Visual C++ .NET

Go to Display Properties => Settings.

You can drag the monitor icons to set the monitors relative position. I guess you've accidently pulled one icon 40 pixels off in vertical direction.
