Default Pontifex aka Bridge Builder 3-D Demo avail.

10 Levels of Pure 3-d bridge building acton

Quote:
Pontifex is the official sequel to a free ware game in which the player designs and tests bridges. Pontifex uses a complex physics engine called the Immortal Engine which allows the construction of many different types of bridges. Once the design is completed, the player can test the strength of the bridge by sending a train across it. Depending on the quality of the bridges' design, the train will either pass over it safely or plummet into the river below. The 3D engine lets the player view their bridge from any angle including a first-person train view. Many different levels are included, from simple to complex, and a level editor lets users make their own levels to trade with other people.
Runs under OpenGL.
I can crank the res, and my AA and AF settings to the MAX and i still maintain 100 FPS(fraps).

Wish more games had physics like that.

It's a blast to cross your own (weird) bridge in first person view, just waiting for it to collapse

Level 9 was really frustrating, though. Should have been possible to build on the "islands".

Finally! I completed level 9 with no broken links (at normal difficulty) :P

I guess many (read: normal) people would get bored and quit before even reaching that level...

Well.. great game.. and, more than a FPS, it shows the importance of FSAA.. without antialiasing is nearly unplayable, or at least very annoying.. even 4X is not sufficient to smooth all edges of the bridges.
